CBP Field Operations Arrests Local Man Wanted on Child Sexual Assault Charges at Hida

CBP Field Operations Arrests Local Man Wanted on Child Sexual Assault Charges at Hidalgo International Bridge

    Release Date: January 28, 2021

HIDALGO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge apprehended a 55-year-old man from Edinburg, Texas who was wanted by the police department from that city on charges of sexual assault of a child.

“While facilitating lawful trade and travel, our frontline CBP officers help to keep our communities safe by apprehending fugitives with outstanding warrants. This is particularly evident when we encounter those wanted for crimes of a sexual nature against children, as this case illustrates,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas.

CBP officers escort a wanted person at a U.S. port of entry.

CBP officers working at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge on Jan. 26, 2021 encountered Jose Carlos Hernandez-Marroquin, a lawful permanent resident (LPR) attempting to enter the United States from Mexico.

A computer check revealed that Hernandez was a possible match to an outstanding arrest warrant. Officers secured Hernandez and escorted him to secondary where a subsequent check utilizing biometric verification confirmed his identity along with the active arrest warrant for sexual assault/indecency with a child, a second-degree felony.

The warrant was issued in Dec. 2020 for an incident that occurred in August where Hernandez allegedly had inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old female child.

Criminal charges are merely allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

These criminals need to be stripped of their "lawful permanent residence" and get deported.

There is nothing lawful about sexually assaulting children!!!!
