Citizens United's Bossie: Good Thing GOP Establishment Tearing Itself Apart

The Republican establishment is weakening itself with attacks on presidential front-runner Donald Trump and other conservatives — and that's a good thing, Citizens United President David Bossie told Newsmax TV.

"We're grateful that the establishment is tearing itself apart," Bossie said Tuesday on "Newsmax Prime." "Look, Jeb Bush is having a miserable year. The more he attacks Donald Trump … the stronger Donald Trump gets. I'm happy about this."

The establishment has never understood that the tea party movement is trying to save America, "the mom and pop grocery store owner, the hardworking men and women around the country who came together in 2010 and are still around today," Bossie said.

"I'm excited that Ted Cruz and Donald Trump and Ben Carson are swamping the establishment candidates by triple and quadruple polling," he said.

"People who fear for our country should be concerned because the establishment Republicans are not accustomed to losing," added Richard Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com.

"Every time a candidate like Jeb Bush or Chris Christie or Marco Rubio or John Kasich attacks Trump or these Republicans in Washington – Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, former Speaker John Boehner – every time they attack Trump, all they're doing is throwing gasoline on that fire that's raging out there, anti-establishment."

Establishment Republicans, who once controlled the party, are now merely one "wing" of the GOP, Viguerie said, "and it's the conservatives and the grassroots that dominate the Republican Party at all levels now."

Strong constitutionalists such as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz are now the strongest members of the GOP while Democrats continue to tack further left, Viguerie added.

"This president is moving left, and he's going to move hard left in the next few months, the few months he has remaining in his presidency and is going to bring Hillary with him and it's going to be a big drag on the Democratic chances of winning the White House this coming fall," he said.

With the exception of Carson, I'm pretty excited about that too!
