    Come on in

    We've had some ice storms here that left nearly 200,000 people without power for several days. The local TV station did a story on a woman that delivered a baby several days ago. They told how the hospital declined to discharge her to a home with no power. They handed the mic to the mother who babbled in Spanish about how wonderful it was she could stay in the hospital. Not long after Hiispanics from all over were heading to hospitals to get their room. The TV station had to scroll a message that said if you need help for the power outage don't go to the hospital, go to a shelter. The scroll was in English and did little good. I guess all the translators we pay for handled it. Sheeesh

    Since most hospitals have policies which allow family to stay with the new mom for as long as they want to 24/7, it would be interesting to know how many of her relatives were crowding into her hospital room to "visit" with her during the power outage.
