Tough immigration law enforcement wins Hispanic vote every time

After a thorough analysis I have deduced that the way for Republicans to win Hispanic votes is fierce enforcement of our immigration laws. This has been proven over the past 26 years and the results are undeniable.

Let's look at who won the Hispanic vote in the past 9 presidential races and their position on enforcement.

In 1980 and in 1984 Ronald Reagan received 35% of the Hispanic vote and in 37% respectively.

In 1996 Reagan signed the IRCA amnesty which legalized over 3 million illegal aliens, with 12- 15 million additional beneficiaries from chain migration. Hispanics were overwhelmingly rewarded with amnesty. But…

In 1998 George H.W. Bush, who supported the IRCA as Vice President got only 30% of the Hispanic vote, 7 points fewer than Reagan and less than two years after the amnesty went into effect.

In 1992 Bush-1 saw his Hispanic vote total decline to 25%, a 12 point drop from Reagan's second election, and he lost the election to Bill Clinton.

In 1996, five weeks before the November election, Clinton signed the IIRIRA, the toughest immigration enforcement legislation in a generation and Hispanics rewarded him with a staggering 71% of the vote for his re-election.

In 2000, George W. Bush received 35% of the Hispanic vote. Al Gore, the Vice President at the time of the 1996 IIRIRA got 62%.

In the 2004 State of the Union speech, President Bush said, “I oppose amnesty, because it would encourage further illegal immigration and unfairly reward those who break our laws.”

And, later that year, during the third presidential debate with challenger John Kerry, the President was asked:

At least 8,000 people cross our borders illegally every day. How do you see it? And what do we need to do about it?

Bush answered, “We’re increasing the border security of the US. We’ve got 1,000 more Border Patrol agents on the southern border. We’re using new equipment. We’re using unmanned vehicles to spot people coming across. We’ll continue to do so over the next four years…”

In 2004, George Bush increased his Hispanic support to 40%.

During the 2008 presidential race, Barack Obama said,

"I will make sure that the federal government does what it’s supposed to do...a better job of closing our borders and preventing hundreds of thousands of people to pour in."

Obama also voted for the secure fence bill in 2008 and got 67% of the Hispanic vote.

Obama's opponent, Sen. John McCain R-AZ, was the first presidential candidate who actually advocated for and wrote an amnesty bill for illegal aliens. Mr. Amnesty got 31% of the vote to Obama’s 67%.

And, in 2012, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who endorsed an amnesty on Meet the Press in 2005, won only 27% of the Hispanic vote.

But President Obama, whose Department of Homeland Security claims they deported more illegal aliens than George Bush did, won 71% of the Hispanic vote.

I think the evidence is clear.

Pro-enforcement wins the Hispanic vote in a landslide as demonstrated by Bill Clinton (1996) and Barack Obama (2008 and 2012.)

Pro-amnesty leads to a decline in the Hispanic vote as seen by George H.W. Bush in the 1988 and 1992 elections, John McCain’s drubbing in 2008 and Mitt Romney’s paltry vote percentage of 27% in 2012.

Yes, the evidence shows that pro-enforcement actions win the overwhelming majority of Hispanic votes, and amnesty, or talk of an amnesty doesn’t.

    It couldn't be clearer.
