Bowser wants to combat “people who are seeking asylum coming across the country to get to their final destinations,” and she said DC would “continue to pursue federal involvement.”
“We’ve had a number of discussions,” she said. “We’ve facilitated FEMA’s involvement with a million dollar grant that has now been increased to work with a lead nonprofit agency. We’ve facilitated using those grant funds to set up respite center in a neighboring jurisdiction and I’ve also asked the Secretary of the Army to deploy the D.C. National Guard to help lead that effort.”

“I’ve asked for the deployment of the guard as long as we need the guard to deal with the humanitarian crisis that we expect to escalate,” she continued. “The number of people crossing the border seeking asylum, we expect to only go up, we need to make sure that there is a national response, not an ad hoc city by city, state by state response.”

4,000 migrants cross into Texas every day on a slow day. TX Governor Greg Abbott has said since President Biden won’t visit the border, Texas will bring the border to him. Now, D.C. mayor calls it a “crisis”, and requests National Guard assistance.

The reason for his whole initiative in the first place was to send a strong message and add pushback against the Biden administration’s failing Southern Border. Mayor Bowser’s comments show that these bussings of illegal aliens are working to some degree, forcing Democrat leaders to finally do something about the ongoing process.

Regardless, some conservatives have been critical of the Abbott-Ducey initiative because they believe the operation is being taken advantage of. Ultimately helping migrants reach their “end destinations” with a free cross-country bus ride.
About a month ago, Big League Politics reported that 79 migrant buses had been transported and taken advantage of under the initiative as of mid-May.

At the time of that writing, 25% of Arizona migrants said they planned to go to New York after arriving in DC. While 23% said they intended on traveling to New Jersey.
“These people are wanting to go somewhere else. They’re not wanting to stay in Arizona,” said Morgan Carr, spokeswoman for Gov. Doug Ducey (R-AZ). “From what we’re seeing, they’re all primarily [headed to] the East Coast.”

Even Bowser acknowledged this stark reality.

Our National Guard is not paid by the taxpayers to be a Welcome Wagon to this foreign invasion.

Send them to the border to EXPEL them all back to Mexico!

No more free bus or airplane rides!!!

Texas Governor Abbott Vows to Send More Illegal Migrants to DC, as Mayor Bowser Calls in National Guard to Handle ‘Dire’ Influx

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has vowed to continue sending illegal migrants to Washington DC, as Mayor Muriel Bowser calls in the national guard to help the city handle the “crisis.”

DC has been being flooded with thousands of illegal migrants as the Texas governor has sent approximately 5,000 to the city by bus over the last three months.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has also shipped roughly a thousand to the nation’s capital.
After news broke that Mayor Bowser is asking the Pentagon to help handle the influx of people, Governor Abbott’s spokeswoman issued a statement saying that DC “finally understands” what the border states are going through.

“Washington, D.C. finally understands what Texans have been dealing with every single day, as our communities are overrun and overwhelmed by thousands of illegal immigrants thanks to President Biden’s open border policies,” Abbott spokeswoman Renae Eze wrote in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “If the mayor wants a solution to this crisis, she should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border — something he has failed to do.”
Eze added that, the situation in DC does not compare to the “true ongoing humanitarian crisis” on the southern border.

In addition to the National Guard, Mayor Bowser is requesting to use an an arena near the Capitol Building to use as a processing center for the migrants.
On July 19, Mayor Bowser sent letters to Joe Biden, as well as the Office of the Secretary of Defense, asking for help. According to the report from the Examiner, neither of those letters have been answered.
Bowser has recently been mocked for claiming that the migrants are being “tricked” into boarding busses to DC.
The mayor wrote, “with pledges from Texas and Arizona to continue these abhorrent operations indefinitely, the situation is dire, and we consider this a humanitarian crisis — one that could overwhelm our social support network without immediate and sustained federal intervention.”
“The pace of arriving buses and the volume of arrivals have reached tipping points,” Bowser continued. “Our collective response and service efforts have now become overwhelmed. … Tragically, many families arrive in Washington, DC with nowhere to go, or they remain in limbo seeking onward destinations across the United States.”

The Examiner reports that “because immigration is a federal issue, Bowser argued, the federal government must provide ‘immediate federal assistance.’ As a result, the mayor requested that the Office of the Secretary of Defense initiate a Joint Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration mission that would provide 150 personnel to the district to transport migrants to a temporary processing center at the D.C. Armory.”
Once processed, the “mission” would entail helping the border jumpers complete “eventual movement to their final destinations” within the nation.
“This mission would begin as soon as possible and continue indefinitely until the city relieves them,” she said. “To be clear, I recognize the magnitude of this request. But the Governors of Texas and Arizona are making a political statement to the federal government, and instead, their actions are having direct impacts on city and regional resources in ways that are unsustainable.”

Border crisis hits home in D.C, so Mayor Bowser finally cares

D.C. Mayor Bowser finally cares about border crisis as it hits home in nation's capital

DC mayor calls flood of migrants 'humanitarian crisis'

Fox News correspondent Gillian Turner reports on the flood of migrants flowing into Washington, D.C. and the partisan fighting over immigration on 'Special Report.'

For the past 18 months, our nation has experienced a historic crisis at the southern border fueled by the Biden administration’s immigration policies allowing millions of illegal aliens into the country. Texas and Arizona are ground zero for this border crisis and, over the past 17 months, have been pleading with the federal government to address the record number of illegal aliens and amounts of deadly fentanyl flooding into their communities.
The federal government’s response has been derelict. President Joe Biden and his supposed border czar Vice President Kamala Harris have refused to visit the border. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas continues a deliberate disinformation campaign by stating that the "border is closed, the border is secure." Apparently, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser didn’t get the party line memo, as even she recently begged the Department of Defense to deploy the National Guard to address the "humanitarian crisis" in her city and her insistence that D.C. taxpayers not foot the bill.
I offer my congratulations to the first big city mayor to finally recognize that the disaster at the border does not end at the border states, and I say — "welcome to the fight." But it raises a larger question — where has the mayor of the nation’s capital and other big city mayors been on this issue the last year and a half?

BORDER PATROL OFFERING $10K HIRING BONUS TO NEW AGENTS AMID LOW MORALE, MIGRANT CRISIS
A cynic may find Bowser’s calls for National Guard involvement in D.C. to be self-serving and too little, too late, occurring only after she has experienced the consequences of out-of-control illegal immigration firsthand. Since April, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey began bussing illegal aliens apprehended at the border to the Nation’s capital in a last-ditch effort to shame the Biden administration into confronting the border crisis.

Mayor Bowser recently noted that D.C’s homeless shelters are overrun with illegal aliens and that D.C. is unable to provide for homeless Americans in Washington due to the approximately 6,000 illegal aliens bussed to the nation’s capital in the last three months. For the mayor, this counts as being "overwhelmed and underfunded?"
Imagine how small towns in Texas are doing with 7,000 illegal aliens coming through per day this summer. D.C. seems to have a head-in-the-sand approach to illegal immigration — pretend it doesn’t exist, or don’t care it exists until it becomes a problem that politically inconveniences the mayor. If Bowser were serious, why stop at just D.C. and not call for the deployment of the National Guard directly to the southern border?
This brings me to the hypocrisy of the mayor’s cries for National Guard assistance. This is the same mayor who openly flouts federal immigration law by proclaiming D.C. a sanctuary city. Such a designation encourages human traffickers and illegal aliens to come to these jurisdictions while U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is impeded by local officials from enforcing the law and removing dangerous criminal illegal aliens.
Look no further than the 73 illegal aliens, including 13 children, discovered by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations team across six D.C. homes connected to human smuggling and trafficking rings. This targeted enforcement effort on July 27 occurred just days after the mayor’s call for National Guard reinforcements.

There are countless other criminal aliens and victims of trafficking that continue to go undetected in large sanctuary cities nationwide. Politicians who are serious about curbing illegal immigration should immediately discontinue unlawful sanctuary city policies and call on the Biden administration to vigorously enforce our immigration laws at the border and the interior of the country.
I would also be remiss if I failed to point out the mayor’s starkly different view of National Guard deployment during the civil unrest in the summer of 2020. As Washington, D.C. was burning and other major cities were plagued by riots, its mayor vocally opposed the use of the National Guard to help restore order. When politics of the moment drive positions, it harms credibility with the people and endangers lives.
