DEAD BODY BURNED AFTER TEXAS BORDER DRUG MURDER

McALLEN, Texas – Police continue to look for two men connected with a drug murder where the victim was stabbed multiple times and then set on fire.

On Monday morning, McAllen Police Chief, Victor Rodriguez, announced that his department was preparing to charge 28-year-old Douglas Esteban Jasso, who was being held in county jail for the July 21 murder of Ryan Sewell.

Detectives are still hunting for 27-year-old Anthony Joe Cortinas and 23-year-old Christopher Joe Hernandez who are also wanted for the murder.

The murder appears to be tied to a dispute over the sale of methamphetamine where Sewell was on the receiving end of accusations of stealing or losing the drugs, Rodriguez said.

On the night of July 17, Sewell was at Jasso’s home on the 300 block of Primrose Street in McAllen in what is considered a quiet upper middle class neighborhood when he ended up getting stabbed multiple times, the chief said.
“We have multiple pieces of evidence that points to the murder taking place in that residence … he was stabbed multiple times,” Rodriguez said. “This case is related to drug activity.”

Police stated that two days prior the suspects had gone back and set the vehicle on fire.

The arrest of Jasso came in an unrelated case after San Juan Police carried out an undercover drug purchase and tracked him down to his home in McAllen and coordinated the raid, said San Juan Police Chief Juan Gonzalez.

Because Jasso is a member of the dangerous gang Texas Chicano Brotherhood, San Juan Police deployed their tactical team to arrest him, Gonzalez said.

Jasso went before a municipal judge over the weekend and ended up getting a series of drug charges before getting turned over to McAllen police for the murder investigation.
