A human barricade completely stopped traffic in La Jolla Wednesday morning during rush hour. Traffic is just slowly getting back to normal on the 5-North freeway, near Nobel Drive.

This is all in response to the grand jury's decision not to charge Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson in the fatal shooting of an unarmed teen. Around seven this morning protesters lined the freeway during rush hour - and literally stopped traffic for about a half hour.

About 50 people held signs saying "Hands up, Don't shoot." When this line of protesters stood in the middle of the road, things got heated - drivers got out, confronted the group and punches were even thrown.

The California Highway Patrol and San Diego Police set up a staging area, and eventually moved in. No one was arrested and the protesters peacefully marched down the shoulder.

Many people are outraged over what happened in Ferguson, Missouri. The decision to not charge Officer Darren Wilson has sparked outrage, nationwide. Many believe there was no justice for Michael Brown. Officer Wilson testified that the teen punched him twice, and went for his weapon.

Michael Brown's parents have asked for the protests to be peaceful.
This wasn't the only local freeway protesters managed to shut down. Tuesday night, the 15-North at University Avenue in City Heights was a complete parking lot. It happened around 8 and didn't re-open until eleven. Earlier in the day, hundreds gathered at two separate protests.

In fact -- more than 100 demonstrations were held in 37 states.

Thousands shut down major streets, highways, and bridges, clashing with police in some areas. Several people were arrested. Tensions remain in the heart of it all this morning. In Ferguson, police fired tear gas at protesters after they flipped a patrol car and set it on fire right in front of City Hall. Several flaming objects, rocks and bottles were hurled at police. Missouri's Governor sent hundreds more national guard troops to restore order. But despite the heavier police presence, 44 people were arrested overnight.

Many of the protesters were reacting to Officer Wilson breaking his silence. In his first telivision interview yesterday, Wilson detailed his confrontation with Michael Brown, saying the teen was the aggressor. He says Brown slammed his patrol car door on him and then attacked him through the window - leading to the first shot fired by the officer. After that, Wilson says Brown began to run, so he got out of his patrol car to chase him.

When the teen turned and appeared to reach for his wasteband. Wilson says there was "no way" Brown had his hands up. He said the teen charged at him again so he fired a series of shots -but that didn't stop him.

"He gets to about 8 to 10 feet and as he does that he kinda starts to lean forward like he's gonna tackle me - and I looked down the barrel of my gun and fired - and what I saw was his head and that's where it went," Officer Darren Wilson said.

Wilson said he has a clear conscience because he knows he did his job right. He added that he would have made the same decisions had brown been a white man.
