I think the traitors need 70 fellow traitors in the House and 20 or 25 in the Senate.

Oliver, I'm assuming they meant 70 between the Senate and House.

Why 70 total??? What is magical about that number unless this is the deal already worked out...and that is what Bush thinks he can deliver.

Speaker Pelosi told Bush she must have 70 Republicans supporting the comprehensive immigration reform bill before she'll bring it to the House floor. Any comprehensive immigration reform bill brought to the House floor must have bipartisan support. A bill lacking bipartisan support would definitely cripple the Democrats during the next election and could cost them control of the U.S. House of Represenatives. As for the senate, they've already passed an amnesty bill once and they're confident the votes are there to do it again.

Actually, we need Americans to run in the two parties, but not the ones who pander to the money that gets them there, but real Americans who care more for the people, and think that America comes first. To be in Public Service, you should be the most Patriotic person to fill the job.

What would impress the h**l out of me, is to see a campaigner say they will not receive a paycheck or the retirement that are now available, that weren't so long ago. Like George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson. They along with the rest of the Congress, and House did not get a paycheck for serving in office. And they had to stay in some of the seediest places when they went to DC to do their jobs.

Well, I don't think Bush can get 70 votes in the House if we keeping bringing it to them, nonstop, and I don't think Pelosi wants immigration reform--she likes power too much!

Hylander - Two words for you: RON PAUL

According to the information I discovered on Ron Paul, he has refused a congressional pension. Sorry I can't recall the url but here's the rest of the article that was posted online:

US Congressman Dr. Ron Paul - HOW YOU CAN HELP
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
After meeting Dr. Paul on February 24th, 2007 in Pembroke, NH at a face-to-face house party, I can assure you Dr. Ron Paul is the REAL DEAL.

All true conservatives should rally behind Paul, for he believes in conservatism in every respect of the word.

Here is some background on the good doctor:

Ron's voting record supports his claim of being a follower of the philosophy of Lower Taxes, Less Government, and More Freedom.

He is definitely the Taxpayers Friend for 10 Years in a Row with 100% rating from NTU this year.

He was a Reagan supporter and in fact led Reagan's Texas campaign for the Presidancy.

He is pro-life which includes being against the death penalty.

He holds a 100% NRA rating, thus is the best friend of second amendment rights enthusiasts.

He is a combat veteran, having been a flight physician.

He was the sole congressman to vote NO on the Patriot Act while others voted yes without even reading it!

He supports abolishing the Federal Reserve, a private bank that runs the money in the USA.

He has refused a congressional pension

In the last election cycle, Ron Paul received 97% of his campaign cash from individual contributions. By way of comparison, Duncan Hunter received only 54% from individual contributions, with the rest coming from big-money Special Interest PACs.

Campaign disclosures reveal that 71.4% of contributions to Paul's coffers come from outside his home state of Texas. Unlike many political candidates, Paul receives the overwhelming majority of his campaign contributions (92.5% in 2004 and 96.8% in 2006) from individuals.

Ron Paul is remarkable in how well he is known across the country by conservatives, libertarians and people in the tech industry. He is undoubtedly better known as an independent congressman than Hunter and may be have higher name recognition than Tancredo. More importantly, people who know him have known him and his positions for a long time.

We believe that Ron is the only one who can unite conservatives, libertarians, republicans, liberals, constitutionalists, and others, in the cause of more freedom.

    How You Can Help
Help spread the word! Here are some things you can do NOW:

    * Donate money as we did in NH at Ron's first house party.

Make checks to the PEC and send to:
    The Ron Paul 2008 PEC
    837 W. Plantation Drive
    Clute, TX 77531

You can also consider having a house party of your own using contacts of friends and other conservatives or by obtaining the voter lists from your town and using that to send out a mailer.

    * Upload Photos of public appearances to Ron Paul's official Flickr site

    * Put yourself on the Ron Paul Buddy Map

    * Create a "Ron Paul" alert in Google so you can comment about Ron on all the blogs and spread the word about all the items on this page if it has not already been mentioned.

    * Sign up at Ron Paul Explore for news and information relating to his candidacy.

    * Join some of these Yahoo Groups to discuss helping Ron:

    NH4RonPaul-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
    RonPaul2008-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
    RonPaulforPresident-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
    democratsforronpaul-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
    RLCNH-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

    * Search for Ron Paul videos on YouTube and make comments of support there.

    * Please remember that leaving comments on YouTube or blogs such as "Yeah, Ron is cool" or "Ron Paul has my vote" are great, but do not offer any information. If you are going to go to the trouble of posting to video sites, blogs, and forums, please direct readers to this page to arm them with MORE INFORMATION! The url to copy is:

    http://www.nhlibertycalendar.org/ronpaul.php
    * NEXT NH EVENT: WE WOULD LIKE TO GET 500 PEOPLE TO HOLD SIGNS AND CHEER AND CHANT FOR DR. PAUL OUTSIDE THE DEBATE VENUE in June, 2007 at St. Anselm College, 100 Saint Anselms Drive., Manchester, NH 03102. The exact date is yet to be determined but it should be in the first week. [Google Maps are Best]

If you would like to attend the debate itself, you must RSVP NOW by calling for a ticket: St. Anselm's number is 641-7000 and you should ask for the NH Institute of Politics.

She will take your name and probably the best she can do is reserve 2 tickets for you so best to hurry!

You can bring a sign from another campaign and print out RON PAUL 2008 and tape that to it. Signs on sticks are best, as they can be held up high.
