Thread: Denver Impound Initiative-- Please Help

On Tuesday, August 12th Denver voters can vote on voter initiative 100. This initiative would direct police to tow cars of persons driving without a license. The mayor, city council, and church groups are opposing this initiative because they feel it would target illegal aliens. Illegals are not permitted licenses in the State of Colorado.

Please help with initiative 100 by alerting your friends and family in Denver. Also, please ask your e-mail list to do the same and pass it on to their e-mail list. The Mayor and City council can use public time and money to fight the initiative. Future Denver must rely on grassroots support. Below is a letter/flyer you can forward to friends. Mayor's gaff reveals need for car towing law

A gaff is when a politician tells the truth. So it was when mayor Hickenlooper spoke while flanked by religious leaders on 7/30. He said "A study by the Safety Dept. determined that an additional 30,000 vehicles would be impounded annually if the measure (car towing) were approved."
That's incredible! 30,000 unlicensed drivers are now being stopped in Denver without being towed or about 4 of 10 traffic stops. Present laws and enforcement are obviously failing. Wouldn't removing these vehicles save on future enforcement down the road while making our roads safer? Absolutely! What, according to the mayor, are the other things so important for traffic cops to do?
The church hierarchy, whom the mayor is obviously kowtowing to, feels I-100 targets illegal aliens. But these people can't drive in Colorado anyway. Oxymoron or just moronic? Illegal aliens have a crime rate 31/2 times higher than our citizenry but are probably not riding the bus when committing crimes.
Diminishing the prospect of having yourself or a child killed by a drunk or illegal alien behind the wheel has to give everyone a sigh of relief. Removing 30,000 mostly old cars from the road is frosting on the cake.

Well hey, why don't we get rid of drivers licenses for everyone! There's an idea! Think of all the money we can save by closing DMV's in every state. No license needed to drive! No insurance needed either! Inspection? Fuhgedaboudit!
