During a heated debate in the Illinois legislature over a proposed education reform bill, Democratic Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia, who is Hispanic, tried to appeal to her fellow minorities.

In the process, she took a racial shot at her Republican colleagues, claiming that “we’re [minorities] all over on this side [of the aisle], right?”

When a black Republican objected, LaVia referred to the representative as “a half.”

Really? Was Ms. LaVia just looking for an excuse to resign, or what?
