Donald Trump: Hacking Investigations ’A Political Witch Hunt’
Donald Trump: Hacking Investigations ’A Political Witch Hunt’
by CHARLIE SPIERING
6 Jan 2017
President-elect Donald Trump calls the ongoing hacking investigations “a political witch hunt” prompted by Democrats.
“They got beaten very badly in the election. I won more counties in the election than Ronald Reagan,” Trump said in an exclusive interview with the New York Times. “They are very embarrassed about it. To some extent, it’s a witch hunt. They just focus on this.”
Trump cited previous hacks that did not garner the same amount of attention from lawmakers, such as the Chinese hack of the White House Office of Personnel Management.
“How come nobody even talks about that?” he asked. “This is a political witch hunt.”
Trump will receive a briefing on Friday by intelligence officials about the investigative report into hacks of the Democratic National Committee and the successful phishing attempt on Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta’s private email.
The president-elect cited reports that the DNC would not allow the F.B.I. to examine their computer servers.
“The D.N.C. wouldn’t let them see the servers,” he said. “How can you be sure about hacking when you can’t even get to the servers?”
But the president-elect appeared willing to take cyber-security seriously, citing numerous attacks on the United States from foreign governments.
“I don’t want countries to be hacking our country,” he said. “They’ve hacked the White House. They’ve hacked Congress. We’re like the hacking capital of the world.”

Washington, DC
President-elect Donald Trump posted a series of Tweets on Saturday morning about intelligence officials and the United States’ relationship with Russia.
Trump first declared that intelligence officials say the interference didn’t impact the U.S. election results. He also criticized Democrats for discussing the hacking at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), saying they’re only doing so because the election loss was so big.

Intelligence stated very strongly there was absolutely no evidence that hacking affected the election results. Voting machines not touched!

Only reason the hacking of the poorly defended DNC is discussed is that the loss by the Dems was so big that they are totally embarrassed!

Trump’s Tweets come the day after he received a briefing from intelligence officials, who investigated the alleged Russian interference into the U.S. election. They did find that Russia attempted to interfere with the U.S. election, but concluded it did not impact the election results.
