Complicated situation for friend who is against illegal immigration

For the past few months I have been communicating online with a childhood friend. He is a few years older than me and he and his family were neighbors of my family for awhile. We lost contact when he went off to college. He now lives in Oregon. He is openly gay and lately he has told me that he is fed up with illegal immigration. He voted for Obama but now loathes Obama. His partner who he lives with is also fed up. They also know several other gay people who are against illegal immigration.

My friend got a job transfer to the Sacramento area. He will be moving in April. His partner is a school teacher and he won't be moving until the summer time. My friend wants to become more involved in speaking out, but is worried about doing so because of his orientation and the views of some conservatives. Are there any organzations that would be ok with my friend being involved in?

Tell your friend that it is not Conservatives he has to worry about. While social conservatives do not support the gay political agenda, most are Christians that are very kind to gay people and at their worse may simply be a bit snobby. The real threat is the illegal aliens. They hate gays and open gay orientation in Mexico and points south can get you beaten or killed.

None of the major illegal immigration fighting organizations have said anything about homosexuality or gay issues with the lone exception of my speech about US Senator Lindsay Graham. In my speech, I made it perfectly clear that I was not attacking Graham because he is gay. My concern was that his hidden lifestyle was being used to manipulate him in support of Obama's amnesty agenda.

My assertion was proven correct when US Senator Lindsay Graham backed away from the negotiating table 8 days after my historic speech.

So your friend is free to join and support ALIPAC, NumbersUSA, FAIR, and CAPS without concerns over gay issues unless he has a problem with supporting organizations that have a lot of support from people that favor traditional marriage. In that case, he has to stay away from a lot of national groups due to the popular support nationwide for traditional marriage.

Diane your friends should have no problem joining any group or speaking out against illegal immigration. We may disagree on the marriage thing, but otherwise Californians have no problem with gay couples.

My friend and his partner in some ways are glad that will be living in California, but they accept that they are always going to encounter problems with others about their relationship.

To ALIPAC/William I have given my friend a link to here and a few other sites. He will probably check them out. He might join ALIPAC, but he might not post here. Thank you William for the advice and I have heard about the homophobia that goes on in Mexico.
