GINNI THOMAS: Six big problems with the immigration bill from someone who has actually read it

Former New York lieutenant governor Betsy McCaughey bets “you can’t find five members of Congress who have read” the Senate “Gang of Eight” immigration bill.

The former Democrat is experienced at reading large bills the Congress seems inclined to pass without reading, such as Obamacare. She tabs them, underlines them and tries to see the big picture of what will happen if the provisions of the bill are implemented.

In an interview with The Daily Caller’s Ginni Thomas, McCaughey brought her dog-eared immigration bill with her and pointed to it repeatedly.

“There are many interest groups involved in this bill,” she said.

“In fact, many, many, many — except one. I didn’t find anything for Joe Q. Citizen in this bill. I didn’t find anything for the average tax-paying citizen in this bill.”

“Somebody forgot to tell him about the meeting, so he or she is not represented in this bill,” she added.

McCaughey, author of “Beating Obamacare,” laid out six criticisms and unexamined problems of the bill beyond what she sees as the problematic pathway to citizenship and lax border security provisions of the bill.

According to McCaughey, the bill imperils national security by weakening rules for asylum seekers; outsources government jobs to community organizers, like happened in Obamacare; doubles the numbers of legal immigrants with green cards; contradicts Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio’s ads that promise new citizens will be self-supporting; costs too much; and impedes border agents from doing their basic enforcement job.

As U.S. Senate Begins Debate on Immigration Bill, Just what would it Do if Enacted? – Video 6/10/13

    (Before It's News)

As the U.S. Senate prepares to take up debate of the “Gand of Eight’s” Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill today, here is video of Betsy McCaughey taking it apart piece by piece and explaining what the 800 page bill would actually do if enacted. McCaughey said it is a bill put together to mollify multiple special interest groups – but not with “John Q. Citizen” in mind – the average tax-paying American. Here are some specific things she said the bill does:

    1. It weakens the requirement on “Asylum Seekers.” It waives the one-year timeframe they are given to request asylum from the time they enter the U.S.

    2. It outsources guiding illegals through the legalization process to outside, “community organizer” groups, and pays for it with Government Funds. McCaughey says this is “dirty tricks” that will virtually ensure they wind up as Democrat voters when the process is complete.

It creates an outside non-profit Foundation called the “U.S. Citizenship Foundation,” to be run by leaders of the “10 nationwide Community Organizations” – such as LaRazza – and they would provide training in U.S. History, Citizenship, and the Constitution – “Citizenship Preparation Programs.” These groups would undoubtedly push people in a Leftist direction.

    3. It doubles the number of people who can enter the U.S. with a “Green Card.” This is designed to shorten the wait time for illegals who must go to the back of the line. It will also add $100 Billion to the cost of ObamaCare.
    4. The provisions of the bill are designated as “emergencies” so that it does not have to fall under “Pay-as-you-go” controls.

    5. The bill puts Border Agents under the “Office of Civil Rights” in the Department of Justice. She said the emphasis of this office is on the rights of those who sneak into the country illegally.

In summary, McCaughey believes this bill will “destroy the two-party system” in America. It will give so much money and power to the outside community groups that will permanantly enable them to create Democrat voters.
Quite a lot to think about.

It also gives the big tech companies the right to fill 100K or more tech jobs on American soil per year without ever having to look at an American's resume or interview an American candidate. They will be allowed to cordon off that many jobs or more every year and effectively reserve them for foreign job seekers. No Americans need apply. Of course, they've been doing that for over a decade, but everyone has been told that companies have to try to find an American before they are allowed to hire someone on a work visa, but they found a way past that pretty quick. Now it will be legal. Why should discrimination against American job candidates be legal?
