Mayor deserved to get traffic tickets
    May. 19, 2008 12:00 AM

The mayor of Guadalupe is claiming retribution by Sheriff Arpaio because she was stopped at night for having a headlight out ("Guadalupe mayor pulled over for broken headlight," Valley & State, Wednesday).

When stopped, it was discovered she had no proof of registration or proof of insurance in her car. In your story, she said she knew she should have had those with her but wanted to move the car anyway and she thought she should have received a warning.

I find her claim of retribution to be without merit. To deputies, her car was but one more vehicle with a headlight out. They had every right to stop her, and they had a duty to write her the appropriate tickets for failure to obey laws we are all aware of.

She needs to quit whining and obey the law. - Ron Myers, Surprise
