    Hire Pelosi!!

    Republican National Committee: Hire Pelosi!
    By Robert Schlesinger

    Posted: November 5, 2010

Suddenly Republicans rather like Nancy Pelosi. After an election season highlighted by RNC Chairman Michael Steele's "Fire Pelosi" bus tour and a "Fire Pelosi" sign hung over their national headquarters door, the GOP is taking a different tack toward the outgoing speaker. As of this afternoon the sign over the RNC headquarters door reads, "Hire Pelosi."

Pelosi of course announced this afternoon that she is going to try to keep her leadership position in the party, running for House minority leader. As our Washington Whispers noted last week, with the Democratic caucus in the next Congress being more liberal (what with all the Blue Dogs looking for alternative employment), Pelosi seems fairly safe.

Apparently the folks at the RNC are thinking along the same lines as TJS blogger Ron Bonjean, who wrote earlier this afternoon:

If Speaker Pelosi is elected House minority leader, she will be handing Republicans the keys to the House of Representatives for years to come. House Republicans and the media will use her position as the symbol of failed leadership at every chance they get. Her partisan style will likely be the undoing of the White House looking to build bridges to Republicans in order to create bipartisan victories. And Pelosi will be the symbol of gridlock and obstructionism over the next two years.

Says RNC spokesman Doug Heye: "If 'Fire Pelosi' was a message that caught fire and helped Republicans take back the House, Democrats hiring Pelosi as minority leader may well help us keep the house."

We'll see. Trying to keep Pelosi as a bogeyman may turn out to be as helpful for GOPers as keeping George W. Bush around was for Democrats. Stay tuned.

    My thoughts exactly.

Pelosi already has a big enough Golden Parachute, for her entire Golden Gate neighborhood. She would be better off just saving face and getting out of the picture.

Of course you're right captain, but it's not about the money with this old bag. She has been rich her entire life, she doesn't care about more money or sitting at home drinking martinis. As far as "saving face" goes, you need to be able to feel some sense of shame for that to happen. This self-absorbed woman has likely never felt shame her entire life.

What she cares about is power. You see for many of these politicians, the allure of power is simply too intoxicating to let go of. They cannot help it! They’re addicted to the power, prestige and benefits that go along with their positions of authority.

Nancy Pelosi can buy her own jumbo jet to travel on. But it's more exciting to pick up a phone and demand an aircraft to fly on at the expense of tax payers and surrounded in luxury because she was the speaker of the house. That's what it's all about and she wants to hold onto it as long as she can.

Maybe Pelosi will retain her MVP status. Having won MVP for center position and team captain for the blue team, the sports broadcasters and journalists will need a star player to hype the animosity and cheer on the team spirit.

    This is team sports....yes?

If she were an actor, then every horror movie needs a boogie-man,.....it makes for good suspense.

I think I like the movie analogy better, Pelosi will make for a great boogie-man,...err, boogie-woman?

i hope she retains her postion as leader of the democratic party in the house ...

As leader she will be the public face to the media in any and all new annoucments coming from their party .... people are used to seeing her on TV representing the party in power .. if she continues in her postion , the perception of the people will be that she is still in power , and any and all failures of this government can be blamed on her ...
