    House Republican Conference

Congressman John Shadegg on the Hugh Hewitt show said that the House Republican Conference just overwhelmingly passed their one sentence resolution opposing the terrible Senate immigration (amnesty) bill. Intent is to send a clear message to the Senate that if this bill comes to the House, they will (hopefully) kill it.

He said we should still call our senators to oppose this bill & tell them don't let this go to the House.

His concern is that if this passes the Senate, Pelosi will put the Senate bill as is on the floor and strong arm. Only about 15-20 (out of 202?) House Republicans support this bill, but this would allow 40 or so vulnerable Dems to then vote no against the amnesty bill. So we should do our best to stop this bill in the Senate.

Thank God for these men and women!!!!! This president is NOT looking out for them ...nor should they be looking out for him. Too bad those in the senate can't figure that out!!!! They will when they are sent packing!!!!

Teddie K just broke out the 14 year old scotch to take away his pain and Bush just messed his pants. This news should hit the amnesty senators, particularily R's, right in their jewels...oh, I forgot they don't have any. Suffice it to say, this hangs a cloud over the rest of the push to pass the bill in the Senate,

One chilling note on this is:
Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) will attend Tuesday’s weekly bicameral meeting between GOP leadership and the president.
. Let's hope he doesn't cave to the arm twisting like a number of Senate R's did.

Ed Royce (another good guy) was on the John & Ken Show and elaborated on this. There are 202 House GOP members, the vote in the Conference was 114-23. Not all GOP members were in attendance for this meeting, but what this shows is the overwhelming opposition of House GOP members to this amnesty bill. Now they are reaching out to some Dems to try and form a coalition to stop this bill should it come over to the House.

(Again, as Rep. Shadegg noted, best to stop this in the Senate if we can, to alleviate the danger of it going to the House.)

Royce reiterated how important it is to keep the pressure on the Senate, to make them "feel the heat." Now is NOT the time to stop.

Royce stressed the terribly negative national security implications of this bill, specifically mentioned the Kris Kobach report:

SO KEEP ON CALLING, FAXING, ETC. !! KEEP UP THE PRESSURE!!

Congressman Hoekstra was just on the Hewitt show and said he was not at all concerned about those GOP House members who didn't participate in the resolution (I know there has been some concern about this mentioned on Michelle Malkin's website; there are 202 GOP House members and 135 participated). The congressman said this resolution was unprecedented, those GOP members who didn't show oppose this bill, and that 80-90% of GOP House conference are against the Senate amnesty bill.
