How to Track Five Million Illegals

    By Nate Jackson · Dec. 11, 2015

The common perception is that most illegal aliens come across the border with Mexico, but most experts still believe that between 40% and 50% of illegals are actually people who came legally and overstayed their visas. According to a 2006 study by the Pew Research Center, “Nearly half of all the unauthorized migrants now living in the United States entered the country legally through a port of entry such as an airport or a border crossing point where they were subject to inspection by immigration officials.” In other words, these folks aren’t “undocumented” at all; they’ve just slipped through the cracks because enforcement has long been, shall we say, lacking.

If the giant bureaucracies of the Social Security Administration, Internal Revenue Service and Department of Homeland Security could work together, illegals who’ve overstayed would be easier to identify. (Maybe if the IRS wasn’t so busy targeting conservatives… Just a thought.)

Well, the Associated Press reports, there’s an effort afoot to track those who overstay visas: “U.S. Customs and Border Protection will begin capturing facial and eye scans of foreigners entering the country at San Diego’s Otay Mesa port of entry on foot. By February, foreigners going to Mexico on foot through the checkpoint will get scanned. The trial run, which lasts through the end of June, will help determine if authorities expand biometric screening to foreigners at all land crossings on the 1,954-mile border with Mexico. Authorities will look at the accuracy of the cameras.” The problem has never been the law. Congress has demanded these scans for more than 20 years. Again, it’s lack of enforcement that presents the biggest problem. And a legitimate tracking system will go a long way toward fixing it.

We don't want or need the IRS involved in this. We're going to pass the FairTax and abolish the IRS and all the sins, costs, authoritarianism, invasions, schemes, scams and fraud that go along with it.

When you come in on a visa, then you need to check out on the visa. When you haven't checked out on the visa, then the government already knows that you're here, you've overstayed your visa, and are an illegal alien. They already know your name, your local contact, hotel or purpose, they already have your picture from your home country passport, you have foreign contact information, as well as a local contact number. At least every time I traveled to another country they had all that information on me, so I presume we have all the same information on them. If they were here on a work visa of some sort, we already know their employer.

The solution to all the work and student visa overstays is to simply stop issuing them to begin with. We don't need foreign students and we don't need foreign workers, so just stop the foreign worker and student visa programs for awhile and this problem is solved along with all the other problems the issuance of these visas have caused our country to begin with. More Americans need access to these seats in our colleges and universities and American Workers need access to all those jobs. The visa holders as a group have proven they can't be trusted to honor their visas so these are character issues that should dispense them from the country and justifies ending the programs for a considerable period of time.

I, for one, would eagerly welcome all the help we could get identifying illegals. IMO, the IRS should already be supplying the DHS with information on illegals fraudulently using social security numbers!

That does not surprise me. However, the IRS should not be supplying any information on anyone to anyone because it needs to be abolished. I realize those who love the IRS and the income-based tax system think and process information differently than those of us who don't support this tax system. But you do not use one agency violating the civil rights of Americans every single day, an agency whose very existence required an odious Amendment to the US Constitution to even exist in the first place to then broaden its powers in more ways to violate in even further the civil rights of US citizens.

The federal government already has the name of their employers through the worker visa that was issued to them so they could work here. They have their name, their employer and a whole host of information about them. They can look for a driver's license which will have their current address. This is just a con game from the government you're falling for, MW. The US government knows who they are, where they are and what they're doing. They don't want to find them, because if they found them, they would have to deport them, and the US government doesn't want to do that. They want to keep them here and make them citizens.

Sheriffs and municipal law enforcement can find them by going to their house and knocking on the door as can ICE or the FBI or anyone. This is just a con game to sell scanning equipment to the US government and broaden the powers of the IRS.

This has nothing to do with loving or hating the IRS, but everything to do with identifying and deporting illegal aliens!

If anyone behind this had any real intention of identifying and deporting illegal aliens, they would have already done it through drivers licenses, public school records, utility companies, Medcaid/SCHIP, DHS visa records, and state and local law enforcement. We don't need the IRS to identify or deport illegal aliens.

We need to abolish the IRS so we don't have an agency handling out EITC and other tax credits to illegal aliens.

The IRS can't deport people, but they can certainly identify those using fake and other folks social security numbers. IRS should have been working with DHS long ago to do just that.

You do not need the IRS to identify folks using other folks social security numbers. The IRS has no control or authority over social security numbers. The Social Security Administration is responsible for that and issues no match letters by the thousands every month which no one does anything about and hasn't for years. Illegal aliens don't even need Social Security numbers to file tax returns with the IRS. They use a ITIN number, a number created by the Clinton Administration specifically for illegal aliens who didn't have Social Security numbers so they could file tax returns so tax evasion wouldn't be added to their list of crimes when they were caught.

DHS doesn't work with anyone to deport illegal aliens. They do the opposite. They defend them, catch and release them, ignore them, and give them work permits. DHS is not the solution to the issue of illegal immigration. If they were, we wouldn't have an illegal immigration problem to begin with.

The only way to identify and deport illegal aliens is for state and local law enforcement to do it. The federal government can't be trusted to do it, either through its intentions or its actions. The federal government has failed to prohibit and prevent illegal immigration for at least 35 years, and in my opinion, will never be able to so until Donald Trump is President, the only candidate who even has a clue or cares enough to do so, which is why state and local law enforcement must be cut loose to do it and why States have to restore their power under the US Constitution, Article 1, Section 9, to control immigration, legal and illegal, in their states.
