Straatman denied saying the words Camelo attributed to him, and said the student may have misunderstood him because of his poor English skills
    Oh that's being kind.

Then keep the damn buzzard rag out of American school!

Really....when do we count? We have to understand for everyone else yet no one respects us or our culture.

If this happened Monday and it is only Wednesday, how did the ACLU get involved so fast. Does every Hispanic in America have a direct line to them. Sounds strange to me.

Camelo and others brought Mexican flags to the south-central Idaho school to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, the May 5 recognition of Mexico's victory over the French army on that day in 1862. About a third of the student body is Hispanic.
Is this student an illegal or legal alien or a citizen?

Teachers help maintain discipline in schools and it is the duty of the school administration and the public to support their actions.

Waving a foreign flag could have been done in a manner meant to incite other students and elevate tensions. School and drive-by shootings are just one example how votile the situation is. Was the flag on a pole that could have been used as weapon? If the student was waving a machete, would the teacher had been wrong to take that from him?

This U.S. school is on U.S. soil and funded by tax-payers' dollars. How would Mexicans feel if schools celebrated Feb. 2nd? February 2, 1848--the date The Treaty of Guadeloupe Hidalgo was signed.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.
But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.
We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Compliments of the soon-to-be opened Boise Mexican Consulate?

This story sounds like such a crock of BS.

"I said, 'What's the problem?'" Camelo, speaking in Spanish, told The Times-News of Twin Falls.
Definitely sounds like there could have been some communication problems between the coach and Camelo.

This story is not about the student being illegal or not, it's about him running around a school waving a foreign flag in the face of Americans. Playing dumb gets you no where in America.

If the teacher had not intervened, worse things than that the buzzard rag going to a proper burial in the trash can could have happened. Just by having that flag, the kid was inciting, provoking and taunting other students.
