Is illegal immigration really important to Ron Paul?
I don’t think so from his comment in this video

Ron Paul - Town Hall Forum - Part 6 of 6
If border security and illegal immigration were important to Ron Paul, he would have never referenced Sen. Chuck Hagel and Rep. Dennis Kucinich (at 5:00). Chuck voted "YES" for amnesty. Each of them have horrible voting records with regard to border security and illegal immigration. This should provide a clue as to how important this subject is to him.

Illegal immigration and border security don't hold the same priority with Paul as they do with Hunter and Tancredo. That's why I've made Paul my distant third choice.

Hagel and Kucinich are two of the biggest amensty supporters in Congress. The fact that Ron Paul said that if he weren't running for president, Ron Paul says candidates or potential candidates he would identify with most are Chuck Hagel and Dennis Kucinich says a great deal about how important immigration and illegal immgration are to him. I don't have a problem with a site that casually brings the weaknesses of opponents up occasionally. However, it would seem like that is the primary reason for the existance of:

IMHO, this is not very flattering for Tancredo."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**

Every single word that was posted about Ron Paul in the blog entry about Ron Paul is accurate. The fact that Ron Paul says that if he weren't running for president, the candidates or potential candidates for president that he would support are Chuck Hagel and Dennis Kucinich is information that those that consider illegal immigration to be an important should be told.
Every Democrat running for president is an amnesty supporter, including John Edwards. Every single candidate on the Republican side with the exception of Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter have voted for or supported amnesty. It is completely appropriate to call several of the GOP candidates in the presidential field amnesty supporters. Many of the GOP candidates running for president such as Romney and Huckabee are attempting to pretend they are not amnesty supporters.
Most of the information posted about Huckabee and Romney are direct quotes from articles published in newspapers. It is not smearing another candidate to quote, for example, from an AP article that appeared in an online version of a newspaper.
Posting facts about the record of candidates with regard to the subejct of illegal immigration is not smearing them.

Yeah, at first paul seemed really appealing to me. But the more I learn, the less I like him. That video, as well as the debates, makes one thing clear: immigration IS NOT Ron Paul's top priority -- the war is. It might surprise some to know that I AGREE with Ron Paul on the war. HOWEVER, unlike Paul, I see our border security and sovereignty carrying more weight than the war. For instance, I would vote for someone I disagree with on foreign policy and agree with on immigration (Hunter) over someone I agree with on foreign policy and disagree with on immigration (in contrast to Paul's preference).
Some other things I have picked up about Paul......I waited and waited for him to adress immigration during the debates, and I had to wait for the THIRD debate for him to talk about it -- as opposed to Tancredo and Hunter who regularly work it into their responses. And when Paul finally adressed it I was unimpressed. Yes, he did reject the current amnesty, BUT he said that if we had a truly free market economy, we would realise that "we need them," and they would not be "scape-goated." I have a serious problem with that remark. I also saw a clip on Youtube where he made a comment that some illegal immigrants are "more American than some of us." I just don't like some of the things coming out of Ron's mouth. I support him over McCain and Giuliani, but Tom and Duncan are FAR better IMHO.Serve Bush with his letter of resignation.
See you at the signing!!

Here is the video that shows what I refered to above. Most of it sounds good. But listen carefully to what Ron says -- all of it. Especially at the end.

Tancredo is who we all need to support for President. He has been the leader of our movement in Congress.

Is Ron Paul not a Libertarian in Republican clothing? He's not the person to vote for if stopping illegal immigration is important to us.
