Democratic Iowa Congressional candidate Staci Appel’s plagiarism scandal continues to grow.
Politico reports the National Republican Congressional Committee has found seven more instances of Appel’s website plagiarizing material from other state senators’ opinion pieces.
The former Democratic state senator’s campaign manager previously acknowledged lifting sentences in her editorials word-for-word from Illinois State Rep. Ann Callis.
The NRCC’s Tyler Houlton pointed out if Appel had committed similar transgressions while she was a student, she would have been expelled. “If Staci Appel committed plagiarism in college, she would be kicked out of the university immediately. The same standard should apply to Appel’s plagiarizing congressional campaign,” he told the Des Moines Register.
