Once again the political debate has come down to a choice between what is best for the American people versus what the Democrats want politically. The fact that the discussion involves a debate over such an obvious threat to the lives of millions of Americans doesn’t enter into the Democrat thought process. They’ve got an open-borders agenda and that, not the citizens of our nation, is what will be protected.
Republicans and others who recognize the continued influx of new carriers of the disease to be a means of new infections are calling the Obama regime to take the obvious steps to prohibit the approximate 13,000 West African visa holders from coming into the country.
Democrats are offering near unanimous support of their “president,” and his open-borders no matter what the cost policy. They are offering some vocal, though poorly grounded and inarticulate dissent.
The same weak, indefensible arguments are about to rightfully cost the CDC Director his job on the eve of an election. It isn’t the best strategy and it’s one that could possibly backfire by exposing their true nature to even the most numb-skulled liberals, leading to a dearth of support November 7th.
As usual, one of those with the loudest mouth on the issue is Texas Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee. She offered up her “learned” opinion on the matter, the one that was handed to her by her Party handlers, saying that rather than eliminate the problem at the source, she recommends depending upon screenings, both overseas and at airports stateside, as well as stricter, new and improved protocols.
She said, “I don’t think we gain anything by spending our time talking about quarantines” of entire countries. We don’t have an epidemic, and for that reason I don’t think that calling for a quarantine of countries answers the question. We have to turn internally and look at our own selves and make sure our health infrastructure is where it needs to be.”

Of course while we are looking internally, debating the issue and spending the money to upgrade our facilities to capture the patients who happen to be active at the same time, many more infected people are bringing their disease into our workplaces, our shopping centers and every aspect of our daily lives.
Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) agreed with Lee, describing a travel ban as an ill-advised “quick fix” that “will only exacerbate the epidemic in the region.” Somebody get her a map and show her how to read it. She has obviously become disoriented from all of the spinning that is going on among Democrats. She supposedly represents voters in Wisconsin, which actually is not part of “the region” and not her concern.
Moore went on to prove that it takes more than good looks to be a Democrat Congresswoman, offering her insight. She said, “Aside from being impractical, this reactionary strategy will force Ebola patients underground making it nearly impossible to track their movements, hinder the capacity for international healthcare workers to transport and administer critical aid, and erode the continent’s fragile economy,”
That sounds a lot like the argument they make for a couple of other open-border agenda items, amnesty and illegal alien importation, the fear of people going underground. Why would we need to track their movements if they are still in Liberia, Ms Moore? At that point it ceases to be our national security issue and becomes what it ought to be, a humanitarian aid issue.
Lee, Moore and their fellow open-border socialists have still managed to avoid playing the race card yet, but give them time. They are saving it for just the right moment.
