I just got an email that the bill still needs 5 more votes to pass and time is running out they are still working hard to kill it everyone cross your fingers because it sounds close.

We have killed the bill before and I certainly hope we can do it again. She has to get 5 more votes to pass it and time is running out. I will continue to do all I can to defeat this bill. Senator Jerry Taylor

SB799 in Arkansas was sent back to the Interim Committee for Education, which means it has been defeated for 2009. Good news, certainly.
There is little doubt it will return next session, as Joyce Elliott seems to have been emboldened by the support this bill has received from some in the business community, and from Arkansas Friendship Coalition(among others).
