    LaRaza calls for "Bank Reform"

Notice how LaRaza claims that Latino's are the only ones effected by anything happening in the USA.

After two years of record-high foreclosure rates, policymakers in Congress and the Obama administration are overhauling our federal bank oversight system. In recent times, we have seen Wall Street calling the shots, poor lender accountability, and deceptive practices that target Latino borrowers. These are toxic circumstances and most would agree that we are due for drastic change. There is less agreement, however, on where to make these changes. In the latest debates over the creation of a new agency—the Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA)—whose sole aim is to defend consumer rights, industry lobbyists have inundated Capitol Hill with pleas to remain unencumbered by regulations. True to form, they are pushing for loopholes that would allow them to evade accountability.

Latino consumers have been hit hard by credit card traps, deceptive auto and home loans, and other unfair lending practices that eat away at their hard-earned income. With more than 400,000 Latino families expected to lose their home in 2009 alone, the financial security of a generation is at stake. To have your voice heard and to learn more about how a reformed banking system could help Hispanic consumers get a better deal, call in to a national briefing held by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) on Monday, November 2 at 4:30 p.m. EST/1:30 p.m. PST. Guest speakers include representatives from the U.S. Treasury and White House. This is your chance to tell policymakers about what is going on in your community, and how better banking could help your neighborhoods.

    Speakers
Janet MurguÃ*a, President and CEO, NCLR
Janis Bowdler, Deputy Director, Wealth-Building Policy Project, NCLR
Eric Stein, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Consumer Protection, U.S. Department of Treasury
    White House representative (TBA)

Yes but a lot of those mortgage gets were other Latinos.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Janet, cool it. Everything that goes wrong in this country is never the fault of illegals -- those that were able to get loans because the banks had gone crazy. And of course, none of those evil American citizens ever got hurt by this whole financial mess.
The legal Latinos and Latino citizens in this country are also losing jobs to illegals, while they watch their taxes going up and the over-priced homes they bought are sinking in value.
It isn't a Latino-only problem, but it is compounded by the illegal problem, illegals who were given bank accounts, credit cards, mortgages, etc. And the majority of illegals in this country are from Latin American countries and Mexico.
And you, Janet, should be able to face reality, rather than coddling the illegals -- while living in the shadows (or not) they have an enormous impact on this country.

Wonder what "La Raza" would think of this statment?

We did't divide this country for the last 60 years we tried to bring it together . The minority groups like NAACP,NOI,CAIR,LA RAZA ,Mencha ,ACLU and other race hustlers did .

So since we have all these armies against whites, why the heck not have an Anglo for America Asst. ? We are falsely called racist anyway . We have been the only race in America not represented by any lobby or group . Being politicle correct has gotten us nowhere .

Whites join these groups all the time , why not invite minoritites to join a anglo group ? Alan keyes probably would and a few others who are not reverse racist l.

Lawless groups like La Raza are losing the battle of public opinion and they know it. They are becoming desperate and will begin resorting to desperate methods. They will lose.

Maybe if the illegals would learn English they could do something radical - like reading their loan papers before signing.

A little math class wouldn't hurt either so they could figure out if they could afford the payment or not....you can not afford a $500,000 home on $10.00 an hour

What happen to people takeing responsiblity for them selves or is this just not expected of certain races, Janet? I happen to know Hispanic people who take this very seriously, so maybe it is just all the uneducated illegal aliens you don't think should be responsible for their actions Janet.

Laraza helped illegals and low income hispanics get liar loans. Laraza is a big part of the problem, not the solution. We need "activist" reform NOW!
