Massive Migrant Caravan Heading For U.S. Border: ‘Potentially Largest Ever’

OPINION: This article may contain commentary which reflects the author's opinion.

Another massive migrant caravan described as “potentially the largest” ever is currently en route to the U.S. border, with some participants pointing to President Joe Biden’s statements among their reasons for coming.
One Haitian traveling with the caravan told Fox News he wants Biden to keep his promise to allow them to stay once they arrive.
“He promised the Haitian community he will help them,” the migrant said on Friday. “He will recall Title 42. He will help us have real asylum.”
    The outlet continued:
The migrant is taking part in a caravan that could become the largest ever to reach the U.S. southern border, with the current number of close to 10,000 migrants, is expected to swell to about 15,000 before it reaches the border.
The caravan departed Tapachula on the Mexico-Guatemala border on Monday. The migrants, which mostly come from Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, will travel what is known as the coastal route to reach the U.S. border.
Fox News labeled the masses of migrants “potentially the largest caravan ever.”
“We consider we are around 9,500, it measures 5 1/2 km from the start to the end, people keep on joining, in the first police check there were approx 100-150 national guard, INM, state police and let us through freely,” the caravan’s organizer, Luis Villagran, told Fox News on Monday.
Their comments come as the Biden administration continues to wage legal war in its bid to end Title 42, a Trump-era rule that authorized rapid deportation of most illegal aliens, bypassing the typical legal process, due to the pandemic.
The intent of the rule was to slow the spread of the deadly virus, though President Trump was labeled a racist for implementing it. Earlier this year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced it planned to lift the order.
“But a lawsuit filed by 24 states at least temporarily put plans to end the rule to a halt, with a Louisiana U.S. District Judge ruling that the restrictions can stay in place until the lawsuit is resolved,” Fox News noted. “The states have argued that lifting the rule would lead to a ‘wave of illegal migration and drug trafficking.'”
Critics have pointed fingers at President Biden for creating what has turned into a migrant crisis after reversing the vast majority of immigration and border security policies Trump implemented — which led to historic reductions in illegal crossings. Trump also managed to finance the construction of hundreds of miles of border wall, which some Border Patrol agents have said was helpful in curbing illegal crossings.
The results of his policy reversals are historic levels of illegal immigration and drug smuggling, which have been detrimental to his approval rating and may have led to a change of heart.
“Don’t leave your town or city or community,” Biden said in an interview with ABC last year. “We’re gonna make sure we have facilities in those cities and towns run by department of — by DHS and also access with HHS, the Health and Human Services, to say you can apply for asylum from where you are right now.”

But that said, Biden’s actions are speaking louder than his words. He has yet to re-impose Trump-era rules and his administration is continuing to argue against border security measures Trump enacted that Biden cannot quickly end.
That sends the message to migrants that it is still okay to try and make it to the U.S.
“Now we need him to keep his promise.” the Haitian migrant said.

Republican governors have attempted to give Biden a taste of his medicine.
Earlier this spring, Govs. Greg Abbott of Texas and Doug Ducey of Arizona began busing illegal migrants to Washington, D.C., as a means of keeping them out of their states and forcing the administration to have to deal with them directly.
“According to TDEM, Abbott’s plan is already working. The agency told Fox News on Monday that many of the communities that originally reached out for support – from the Rio Grande Valley to Terrell County – say the federal government stopped dropping immigrants in their towns since Abbott’s announcement on April 6,” the network reported separately in mid-April.

"We consider we are around 9,500, it measures 51/2 km from the start to the end, people keep on joining, in the first police check there were approx 100-150 national guard, INM, state police and let us through freely," the caravan's organizer, Luis Villagran told Fox News Monday.
The migrant's comments come as the Biden administration continues its fight to end Title 42, a Trump-era rule that allows the U.S. to expel asylum seekers without the typical legal process. The policy was enacted early in the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to help prevent the virus from spreading, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announcing earlier this year that it planned to lift the order.
But a lawsuit filed by 24 states at least temporarily put plans to end the rule to a halt, with a Louisiana U.S. District Judge ruling that the restrictions can stay in place until the lawsuit is resolved. Critics have blamed the president for creating what has become a crisis at the southern border, arguing Biden's reversal of Trump-era immigration policies has created an incentive for migrants to make the dangerous journey through Mexico to the U.S. border.

The crisis has become politically challenging for the White House, seemingly leading to Biden's change of tune when it comes to migrants seeking refuge in the U.S.
"Don't leave your town or city or community," Biden said in an interview with ABC last year. "We're gonna make sure we have facilities in those cities and towns run by department of — by DHS and also access with HHS, the Health and Human Services, to say you can apply for asylum from where you are right now."

Bannon Predicts GOP Will Win Back House, Impeach Biden Over Border Crisis

OPINION: This article may contain commentary which reflects the author's opinion.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is predicting that President Joe Biden will be impeached in November over his administration’s handling of the immigration crisis.
“You have stood down ICE and you’ve stood down Border Patrol, and guess what? That’s the impeachment hearing I want to hear,” Bannon said during an episode on his War Room podcast.
“You’re going to sit there day after day and week after week and we’re going to bring the witnesses,” Bannon continued, in an attack that appeared to be aimed at Biden. “We’re going to bring the witnesses of what you did to this country and what you did on the southern border.”

“Preserve your documents because after impeachment, they’re going to put you up on criminal charges. Criminal charges for allowing this country to be invaded by your actions,” Bannon said.
“Acts of commission not acts of omission,” said Bannon. “We’re not going to back down, so write it down. This November is about one thing: it’s impeaching Joe Biden to stop this madness and to stop this illegitimate regime from destroying our nation.”
It’s not just Bannon talking about this.
Biden’s performance in office has been so abysmal he deserves to be removed, according to a growing number of Americans.
High inflation, skyrocketing gas and diesel prices, a nagging supply chain crisis, food and baby formula shortages, and a porous southwestern border have all contributed to equally high levels of anger, resentment, and frustration among Americans, a new survey shows.

And in fact, historically speaking, Biden’s job approval rating is getting so low that he is entering impeachment territory.
    CBS News reports:
America’s mood is uneasy and worried. Amid continued inflation and stock market declines, large majorities describe their mood as such, and the percentage who call the economy bad has hit highs for the Biden presidency. The number who say things in the country are going badly overall is at the highest level of President Biden’s tenure, too, as pessimism about the market, the economy, and prices drives views looking forward — and outweighs optimism about both jobs and coronavirus, as we head into summer.
Looking ahead, there is large — and growing — pessimism about the national economy, the stock market, and inflation. In fact, the outlook on the costs of things gets the most pessimism of the items tested, followed by pessimism about the national economy.
Most are also pessimistic about their plans for retirement, and on the heels of a stock market downturn, two-thirds of those who have money invested in the market are pessimistic about it.
The outlet went on to report that there is optimism regarding jobs and the coronavirus, but in fact, the latter is waning after having run its course and is no longer a top concern for most. More Americans — far more — say they are concerned about their personal finances such as being able to even have enough money to buy fuel to get to work, let alone having enough left over to buy increasingly higher-priced food. Average rents are up as well as interest rates on home purchases, not to mention the price of homes in general.
On impeachment, a new shock poll from UMass Amherst Poll conducted by YouGov found that 68 percent of GOP voters want Biden removed from office if the party wins control of Congress.
“The pollster predicts pressure to impeach will only increase among Republicans,” Mediate reported, citing the survey.
While just over one-third of the poll’s 1,000 respondents (34%) say that a GOP-controlled House should impeach Biden, 68% of Republicans and Trump voters and 66% of conservatives all would like to see the President charged by Congress for treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors, the formal criteria for impeachment laid out in the Constitution. Asked if they think that a Republican-controlled House actually will impeach Biden, 44% of the poll’s respondents said they think it will, while over half of Republicans (53%) said they think it will.
“The decision to impeach a president was once viewed as a last resort to reign in a president who pushed or broke through the boundaries of our laws, values, and ethics,” said Tatishe Nteta, associate professor of political science at UMass Amherst and director of the poll.
“Today, impeachment is no longer a final option, but one of many weapons to be used in an era of rampant partisan polarization to gain an upper hand on one’s partisan opponents. With a number of Republican members of Congress calling to impeach President Biden, the chorus will likely grow louder if and when the Republican Party takes control of the U.S. House in 2022,” she added.
Some prominent conservatives have already begun calling for Biden’s impeachment.
In August, talk host and Fox News personality Dan Bongino said that “new rules are in effect” in the House after Democrats moved to impeach former President Donald Trump twice once they took over the majority in January 2019.
Bongino, a former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent intoned, “It’s time to start playing hardball.”
Bongino argued in favor of impeachment after playing a clip of conservative talk host and fellow Fox News host Mark Levin, who also made the case for impeaching Biden during an earlier appearance on colleague Sean Hannity’s show.
“The Democrats think impeachment is a strictly political tool to get rid of your political enemies, even when they don’t have a reason? You know, fake impeachment one, fake impeachment two over Trump. Well, now we have a real reason,” said Bongino, though both times Trump was acquitted in the Senate.
Bongino cited Biden’s lack of control over the U.S.-Mexico border, saying that the president’s reversal of Trump’s enforcement policies has invited an “invasion” of migrants streaming illegally into the country.
