    Matamoros is Angry

How about this.......March 4th there was a 2 hour all out war in Matamoros, Mexico between drug cartels and the military. The same day, Matamoros businesses are angry that Texas is telling kids not to go there.

Matamoros Businesses Upset Over Travel Warning

Reported by: Manuel De La Rosa
    Last Update: 3/04 9:02 pm

MATAMOROS, MEXICO - Business owners in Matamoros are furious. They say a Texas alert warning against travel into Mexico is hurting their bottom line. They believe state leaders have overstepped their boundary.

They are sitting and waiting. Taxi drivers at the Gateway International Bridge say this isn't what they're used to on the first week of Spring Break. They tell us the slow start is due to a travel warning advising Spring Breakers to avoid Mexico.

"It's affecting us all. The travel warning is hurting Matamoros and Brownsville. We don't have any Spring Break business. It's usually busier even on the first week, but this year nobody has shown up," says Alejo Alcaraz, a Brownsville cab driver.

The Matamoros Chamber of Commerce isn't happy either. They believe the Texas travel warning went too far in saying to avoid travel, unlike the State Department warning that only stated security in Mexico poses a risk.

A Matamoros business woman who depends on tourism agrees.

"The economic effect is hard on business owners in Matamoros. The tourists aren't coming to visit. It's very slow. Spring Break is important to us. It's safe and quiet right now, but this warning isn't helping us,â€

state leaders have not overstepped their boundary because its their job to try to protect the people of said state that issues the warning

Can you imagine a 2 hour all out war on the same streets kids usually flock to for Spring Break. That sound like something I don't want my teenage son to get caught up in. Sorry Mexican businesses, I feel your pain, but this is something you need to complain to El Presidente Calderone about. Until Mexico cleans up its' act and gets all of these illegal out of our country there will be much less American traffic to the border.

Sorry Mexico, but our kids cannot come out and play. You keep your kids in your yard and we will keep our kids in our yard!

Although nothing has been confirmed, more bomb threats in Matamoros forced schools to evacuate their children and staff Monday morning. All morning long, Mexican aircrafts circled the Mexican city and plumes of smoke could be seen from Brownsville but this is just one threat after two days of continuous gun battles.

Friday’s shoot out allegedly killed suspected Mexican drug trafficking kingpin, 48-year-old, Antonio
