McCain Chased Off Reservation By Pissed-Off Navajo Activists (VIDEO)

    Chimene Hawes

In a stunning action that was long overdue, a group of native Navajo Americans chased Senator John McCain out of the Navajo Nation capitol of Window Rock — making it perfectly clear he was unwelcome in the first place.

McCain was visiting the Nation in commemoration of Navajo Code Talker’s day, and perhaps for a moment thought he would get by listening to polite pleas from Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye and Vice-President Jonathan Nez to back a Congressional appropriation to fund the construction of a Navajo Code Talkers Museum. According to a report from Native News Online.Net, however, the Nation’s leaders chose the moment to focus on the EPA tragedy unfolding via the Gold King Mine spill into the Animas and San Juan Rivers.
Vice President Nez said the Navajo people naturally have a distrust of the government and noted the agency never formally apologized to the Navajo Nation for contaminating the tribal water source known as the “lifeline of the Navajo people.”

    Then came the kicker:
“This is just one mine out of hundreds and there’s no Superfund designation,” Vice President Nez said. “Right now, we don’t trust the U.S. EPA’s data and their collection.

Rather than responding at the formal event, McCain and the Navajo Nation leadership, both Executive and Legislative branches, as reported by Dusty’s Navajo Political Sphere, attempted to sneak off to the Navajo Nation Museum for a “secret meeting“:
“About 60 protesters and or more ran John McCain out of Window Rock today. Code Talker day was celebrated today and in attendance were McCain, NN Executive Branch and NN Legislative Branch. The whole group left to attend a secret meeting with John McCain at the NN Museum. The group was met with protesters who made it clear that giving our water rights away will not happen under our watch. The meeting, I am told, did not happen. Delegates, McCain and others went out the side door.

“There were about 50 NN Police, as well as County Police. Protesters took off in cars and followed McCain to the airport. The bridge to the airport was closed off.

“Bye John McCain! There are a lot of things on the Navajo Nation that our groups large and small are going to tackle. We cannot trust our Government, so we will make things right, ourselves.”

The Navajo mistrust of “Government,” especially McCain, is appropriate. Despite coming out recently in support of preventing a July “disposal” round-up of wild mustangs from the Tonto National Forest, (perhaps due to the loud chorus of outrage which emanated from horse-lovers), McCain demonstrated his truly greedy and inconsiderate nature when it came to native concerns by introducing an 11th hour amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act ceding sacred Apache land, Oak Flat, to a foreign mining corporation.

McCain got his first taste of active Navajo displeasure during a photo-op following the official Code Talker Day event with Adriano Tsinigine. Observe this priceless pic, as posted to protect Oak Flat activist organization Apache Stronghold:

When the senator saw the protest sign, he ordered Mr. Tsinigine to “Get out of here, now!” The irony is blissful when viewed in retrospect, for McCain was met at the museum by a vocal crowd of outraged Navajos who weren’t about to let him quietly convene another closed-door meeting to bargain with the rights of their people. Protesters gained access to the museum and, though they were immediately subdued by police, by all appearances prevented McCain’s meeting from happening. Watch him run from the truth in this terrific video captured at the scene:

EPA angers Navajos by sending water for their livestock in filthy tanks

    By Rick Moran

That toxic spill caused by the EPA out west continues to be a <acronym title="Google Page Ranking"><acronym title="Google Page Ranking">PR</acronym></acronym> nightmare for the agency. Now they're in even more trouble with the Navajo tribe, who couldn't water their livestock because of the contamination. So the agency sent the tribe nine water tanks that turned out to be fouled with oil residue.
    Washington Times:

Navajo Nation president Russell Begaye’s finger came up brown and oily after he ran it inside the spigot of a water tank, one of nine delivered by an EPA contractor to Shiprock, New Mexico, in the aftermath of the accident that sent orange mining waste down the Animas and San Juan rivers.

“This is what they expect our animals to drink and to use this and pollute our farmland, our canals?” said Mr. Begaye in video posted Wednesday on his Facebook page.

“This is totally unacceptable. How can anybody give water from a tank like this that was clearly an oil tank and expect us to drink it, our animals to drink it? And to contaminate our soil with this?” said Mr. Begaye. “It’s just wrong. Clearly, it’s wrong.”

In separate statements Thursday, the EPA and its contractor, Triple S Trucking in Aztec, New Mexico, told KOB-TV in Albuquerque that they will investigate the problem.

“Triple S Trucking has received assurances that each of the tanks that were used were steam cleaned and inspected prior to use at Shiprock,” said the company’s statement. “Triple S Trucking will continue to work cooperatively to investigate this complaint about contamination of the agricultural water.”

The episode comes as another black eye for the EPA, which is already under investigation for accidentally triggering the 3-million-gallon torrent of wastewater from the Gold King Mine near Silverton, Colorado, and then waiting 24 hours before reporting it.

“Every new development of the EPA spill story is worse than the last,” said Jonathan Lockwood, head of the free-market group Advancing Colorado.

In another video, Mr. Begaye draws a cup of water from the tanker’s spigot that comes up speckled with oily debris.
“It just angers us,” he said. “We told them to haul all this stuff off.”

"Steam cleaned and inspected"? By whom? Mr. Magoo? No doubt some EPA contractor flunkie thought the Navajos couldn't tell the difference between clean and oily water. Or perhaps the EPA figured they weren't worth the effort?

The Navajos have yet to authorize their people to use the water for anything – drinking, bathing, or for their livestock. This despite the EPA saying last weekend that water purity in the two rivers was in "pre spill" condition. Frankly, I wouldn't trust the EPA to guarantee the cleanliness of anyone's water, given the trouble they're in with Congress and western residents.

Also, the owner of the Gold King Mine where the toxic spill originated says he tried to keep the EPA out but was threatened with lawsuits if he didn't allow them access.

“When you are a small guy and you’re having a $35,000 a day fine accrue against you, you have to run up the white flag,” Mr. Hennis told CBS4 in Denver.
Mr. Hennis said he opposed having the EPA investigate leakage from the inactive mine near Silverton, Colorado, because he had tangled with theagency in previous years over its work at another mine he owns in Leadville, Colorado.
“I said, ‘No, I don’t want you on my land out of fear that you will create additional pollution like you did in Leadville,’” Mr. Hennis told Colorado Watchdog.org. “They said, ‘If you don’t give us access within four days, we will fine you $35,000 a day.’”

Typical arrogant bullying from the EPA. Now they're paying for their incompetence.

You can not use a tank that carried oil to then carry water, I don't care how well you think you "steam-cleaned" it. Is there nothing our government can do right? We can't even use the proper tanks to carry water?

Does anyone think this would happen under a Trump Presidency? A man who owns restaurants, hotels, and controls more potable drinking water than most Americans? No, this would never happen under a Trump Presidency without everyone involved being:

FIRED and SUED and forced to drink the water they delivered to the Reservation.

When America's government will cut off necessities to life from the original American, what the hell do you think democrats AND republicans will do to the rest of us after they have repopulated the USA? Now do not give me any crap about only democrats, Reagan signe the amnesty that killed tens of thousands of Americans and republicans have majority and not even honoring last year's lies.

Power must be wrestled away from America's major parties, or we will soon be resigned to live on desert reservations with no to poor water just like American Indians! Are'nt we proud of what we have done to the original American?
