The Media Ravaged Trump for Saying NJ Muslims Cheered 9/11… But Look What We Just Found

Last week, 2016 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump claimed that he had witnessed thousands of Muslims in Jersey City cheering in glee after the Twin Towers fell on Sept. 11, 2001.

Immediately after Trump made that claim, practically every liberal mainstream media charlatan in America rushed to his or her desk to refute it. Take for instance the Associated Press, which initially wrote, “but there’s no evidence that ever happened.” The article was later watered down to say it was “a claim officials strongly deny.”

Many outlets also claimed that there was no reason to suggest that any Muslim had celebrated the 9/11 attack, period.

However, evidence uncovered by Power Line contributor John Hinderaker proved otherwise. Specifically, Hinderaker pointed to an article by The Washington Post published seven days after the 9/11 attack.

“In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners’ plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river,” the article read.

This means, as Hindertaker correctly explained, “NPR, the New York Times and the Associated Press are simply wrong when they tell their audiences that there is no evidence of Muslims in America celebrating on September 11, and no contemporaneous news stories to that effect.”

Hindertaker suspects that these sorts of liberal media outlets purposefully avoided The Washington Post story because it did not specifically refer to “mass cheering” or “mass celebrations.”

In other words, the liberal media tried to fool its readers. Why? Because much like their messiah, President Barack Obama, liberal “reporters” want to do everything in their power to keep the lie alive that radical Islamists pose no threat to America.

To be fair, it seems like Trump exaggerated when he claimed that he had seen “thousands” of Muslims cheering. Nevertheless, a few Muslims is still a lot more than none.

WaPo: Officials Investigated Muslims in New Jersey Holding Rooftop Parties on 9/11 Across River From Attack Scene

The Washington Post reported on September 18, 2001–one week after the 9/11 Islamic terror attacks, that the law enforcement officers were investigating people in Muslim enclaves of Jersey City, New Jersey who were seen the day of the attacks celebrating and holding rooftop parties to watch the aftermath of the attack on the Twin Towers unfold across the Hudson River in New York City. One of the Post’s reporters later stated his sources were eyewitnesses and Jersey City police officers.

The issue of Muslims in New Jersey celebrating the attacks was raised recently by leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Excerpt from the Post:

“The FBI investigation into the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon has led agents back to a familiar area: northern New Jersey.
“It was there, in Jersey City, just across the Hudson River from Manhattan, that a Muslim cell plotted the 1993 bombing of the twin towers and sought to destroy other New York landmarks as part of an urban guerrilla war against the United States.
“It is believed that 13 of those detained by federal authorities for questioning in its probe into the worst terrorist act in U.S. history are from northeastern New Jersey, some from the same Journal Square area where suspects in the 1993 bombing lived.

Sayyid Nosair of Jersey City and Cliffside Park was also charged in the 1990 killing of Rabbi Meir Kahane in Manhattan. John Hindraker at Powerline reported the Post article earlier Sunday and added that one of the reporters on the story, Serge F. Kovaleski, had informed a researcher, Irfan Khawaja, who was looking into whether Muslims in northern New Jersey had celebrated the 9/11 attack,s that his sources for the report on Jersey City were Jersey City police officers.

“In an email to me on Dec. 16, 2003, Kovaleski indicated that his information had come from the Jersey City Police Department, and that he had confirmed the JCPD’s information via interviews of eyewitnesses of the celebration.”
