In the municipality of Benito Juárez in the state of Nuevo Leon (north of Mexico), local police officers attacked journalists that were reporting a demonstration of citizens that demanded greater security in the area. The aggression took place on June 18, 2008.

During more than four hours, neighbors of the locality of San Antonio, of the municipality of Benito Juárez - to the east of the metropolitan zone - blocked the Monterrey to Reynosa state highway. Around 2:00 a.m. (Local time) civilian Juan Francisco González Muñoz descended of a vehicle and insulted some demonstrators; subsequently he struck several people, among them some journalists, to which the police officers reacted in the same manner, striking them too. During the aggression the director of the local police , Alberto González Hernández, negotiated with the nonconformists the lifting of the blockade.

Juan Francisco González Muñoz, was the sent by the Mayor of Benito Juárez, Nuevo León, Heriberto Treviño Cantú, with the intent of leading the police operation.
