A government that fails to secure its borders is guilty of dereliction of duty. A government that fails to care for our men and women on the frontlines is guilty of malpractice. A government that puts the needs of illegal aliens above U.S. veterans for political gain should be prosecuted for criminal neglect bordering on treason.
    Compare, contrast and weep:
In Sacramento, Calif., lawmakers are moving forward with a budget-busting plan to extend government-funded health insurance to at least 1.5 million illegal aliens.
In Los Angeles, federal bureaucrats callously canceled an estimated 40,000 diagnostic tests and treatments for American veterans with cancer and other illnesses to cover up a decade-long backlog.
In New York, doctors report that nearly 40 percent of their patients receiving kidney dialysis are illegal aliens. A survey of nephrologists in 44 states revealed that 65 percent of them treat illegal aliens with kidney disease.
In Memphis, a VA whistleblower reported that his hospital was using contaminated kidney dialysis machines to treat America’s warriors. The same hospital previously had been investigated for chronic overcrowding at its emergency room, leading to six-hour waits or longer. Another watchdog probe found unconscionable delays in processing lab tests at the center. In addition, three patients died under negligent circumstances, and the hospital failed to enforce accountability measures.
In Arizona, illegal aliens incurred health care costs totaling an estimated $700 million in 2009.
In Phoenix, at least 40 veterans died waiting for VA hospitals and clinics to treat them, while government officials created secret waiting lists to cook the books and deceive the public about deadly treatment delays.
At the University of California at Berkeley, UC President Janet Napolitano (former secretary of the Department of Homeland Security) has offered $5 million in financial aid to illegal alien students. Across the country, 16 states offer in-state tuition discounts for illegal aliens: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington. In addition, the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education, the University of Hawaii Board of Regents and the University of Michigan Board of Regents all approved their own illegal alien tuition benefits.
In 2013, the nation’s most selective colleges and universities had enrolled just 168 American veterans, down from 232 in 2011. Anti-war activists have waged war on military recruitment offices at elite campuses for years. The huge influx of illegal aliens in state universities is shrinking the number of state-subsidized slots for vets. [And the Obama administration put military tuition assistance up front on the politically-driven chopping block during the sequestration circus last spring.]
In 2013, the Obama Department of Homeland Security released 36,007 known, convicted criminal illegal aliens, according to the Center for Immigration Studies. The catch-and-release beneficiaries include thugs convicted of homicide, sexual assault, kidnapping, and thousands of drunk or drugged driving crimes.
The same Department of Homeland Security issued a report in 2009 that identified returning combat veterans as worrisome terrorist and criminal threats to America.
In Washington, Big Business and open-borders lobbyists are redoubling efforts to pass another massive illegal alien amnesty to flood the U.S. job market with low-wage labor.
Across the country, men and women in uniform returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan have higher jobless rates than the civilian population. The unemployment rate for new veterans has spiked to its worst levels, nearing 15 percent. For veterans ages 24 and under, the jobless rate is a whopping 29.1 percent, compared to 17.6 percent nationally for the age group. A Forbes columnist reported last year that an Air Force veteran was told: “We don’t hire your kind.”
And last December, Democrats led the charge to reduce cost-of-living increases in military pensions — while blocking GOP Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions’ efforts to close a $4.2 billion loophole that allows illegal aliens to collect child tax credits from the IRS, even if they pay no taxes. Stopping the fraudulent payments to illegal aliens would have offset the cuts to veterans’ benefits.
America: medical and welfare welcome mat to the rest of the world, while leavings its best and bravest veterans to languish in hospital lounges, die waiting for appointments, and compete for jobs and educational opportunities against illegal border-crossers, document fakers, visa violators and deportation evaders. Shame on us.

Read The Outrageously Controversial Bill To Clean Up The VA That Was Blocked By The Senate

By Kevin Boyd 18 hours ago

Amazingly, a senator just blocked a bill that makes it easier to fire poorly performing employees at the scandal-plagued Veterans Administration. This comes in the wake of 33 Democrats opposing the same bill, including the second-highest ranking Democrat in the House, Steny Hoyer of Maryland. The measure passed the House with 390 votes on Wednesday and has been cosponsored by 151 Republicans and Democrats.
What’s so controversial about the bill? We don’t know:
H.R. 4031, the “Department of Veterans Affairs Management Accountability Act of 2014” would amend title 38 U.S.C., and give the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs authority to remove employees of the Senior Executive Service, whose performance the Secretary believes warrants removal, from the government service completely or transfer them to a General Schedule position within the current civil service system. The ability to remove such an employee is modeled after the same authority that Members of Congress have to remove their professional staff members who work for them.
Does this strike you as partisan? At all?
Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) asked to bring the bill forward by unanimous consent. The chairman of the Senate Veterans’s Affairs Committee, Bernie Sanders, an independent socialist from Vermont who caucuses with the Democrat party, rose and objected to the bill. He said he was going to hold hearings on the V.A. in several weeks.
Sanders has been a staunch defender of the V.A., stating in a heated interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo that most veterans were satisfied with the V.A.’s quality of care, and that “people die every day.” He also praised V.A. Secretary Eric Shinseki for the job he has done.
The Senate’s stalling of the reform bill brought an stern response from Speaker of the House John Boehner:
“As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, I am disappointed, and—frankly—shocked that Senate Democratic leaders chose to block legislation that would hold VA managers accountable,” Boehner said in a statement. “As we head home to honor the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedom, it’s fair to ask why Senate Democrats won’t stand up for more accountability?”
So what do you think is the real reason the Senate majority is standing in the way of reforming the V.A., instead of working on ways to better help our veterans? Share your answers below.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., repeatedly put the blame for the Veterans Affairs scandal on former President George W. Bush, while arguing that her party has worked hard for veterans in recent years.

Pelosi took a shot at Bush while saying that the scandal is a high priority for Obama. "He sees the ramifications of some seeds that were sown a long time ago, when you have two wars over a long period of time and many, many more, millions more veterans," she told reporters during her Thursday press briefing. "And so, I know that he is upset about it."
The Democratic leader never mentioned Bush by name, but she alluded to him early and often in the press briefing.
"Maybe when we go into war, we should be thinking about its consequences and its ramifications," Pelosi said while discussing the scandal. "You would think that would be a given, but maybe it wasn't. And so, we go in a war in Afghanistan, leave Afghanistan for Iraq with unfinished business in Afghanistan. Ten years later, we have all of these additional veterans. In the past five years, two million more veterans needing benefits from the VA. That's a huge, huge increase."
She suggested that Obamacare might hold the key to solving the problem. "We have the Affordable Care Act that is out there that is providing resources for more federally-qualified health clinics around the country," Pelosi said. "Maybe we should take a look at how we deal with our veterans' needs in a way that says let's help them closer to home, whether that's a federally qualified health clinic or in some other institution that provides health care closer to home. [It's] especially important for our veterans who live in rural areas."

Despicable. Al-Qaida prisoners at GITMO get better care than veterans in the U.S.

GITMO prisoners get better medical treatment than veterans

Written by Allen West on May 23, 2014

In light of the despicable treatment being given to our veterans by our own government, it is appalling to find out al-Qaida detainees apparently receive far superior treatment at GITMO.
Not that I find it surprising – I’ve have been to GITMO and one of the things I noticed was the absolute “bend over backwards” treatment for these Islamic terrorists. There were multi-channel cable TVs in the common areas. Generous piles of food for the “detainees” — I prefer prisoners of war.
And now, a former Pentagon spokesman says the 150 jihadists have approximately 100 doctors, nurses and health care personnel assigned to them. That’s a doctor-patient ratio of 1.5 to 1. For America’s 9 million veterans receiving VA health care and 267,930 VA employees, the ratio is 35 to 1.
According to JD Gordon writing for Fox News, “Despite the fact that al-Qaida terrorists carried out the Sept. 11 terror attacks, killing 3,000 people in America, the admitted co-conspirators and their roughly 150 fellow jihadists at Gitmo have approximately 100 doctors, nurses and health care personnel assigned to them. Doctors and medical personnel are at their beck and call. ”
Of course the detractors will chime in that this is an unfair comparison, and it is the principle that matters. But I dare anyone to find this acceptable.
The VA is a classic example of big government gone wild. It is America’s second largest cabinet agency after the Defense Department. Since civil service promotions are traditionally based more on seniority than performance, and it’s near impossible to fire anyone, there’s a punch-the-clock mentality that’s pervasive.
And by the way, just yesterday the U.S. Senate, under the “leadership” of Harry Reid refused to take up a piece of legislation passed in the House that would enable VA employees — including senior level ones — to be fired. According to the Senate Majority Leader’s office, they need more time to study the 4-page bill.
As Gordon writes, if any government entity ever needed a complete overhaul, it’s the VA. If it were in the private sector, it would have been shuttered long ago. Today’s VA has near zero accountability, while labor unions fight to protect employees who aren’t doing their jobs. Shinseki and his senior staff should be the first to go.
Indeed, this is such an important issue that President Obama gave a weak vanilla speech and then whisked off to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown – I guess he’s got his priorities straight. It’s certainly obvious we pay more attention to those whose sole raison d’être is to kill Americans — rather than those whose sole purpose is to defend Americans and our way of life.
Our veterans certainly deserve better treatment than GITMO prisoners of war and America deserves a better president than the one we’ve got.
