The father of Mollie Tibbetts, the Iowa college student whom authorities say was killed by an illegal alien, urged in an op-ed published Saturday in The New York Times that his daughter’s death not be used to advance “racist” views against immigrants.

“At the outset, politicians and pundits used Mollie’s death to promote various political agendas. We appealed to them and they graciously stopped,” Rob Tibbetts wrote in an opinion piece for the Des Moines Register. For that, we are grateful.”

“Sadly, others have ignored our request. They have instead chosen to callously distort and corrupt Mollie’s tragic death to advance a cause she vehemently opposed. I encourage the debate on immigration; there is great merit in its reasonable outcome,” he continued. “But do not appropriate Mollie’s soul in advancing views she believed were profoundly racist.”

Rob Tibbits went on to write, “The person who is accused of taking Mollie’s life is no more a reflection of the Hispanic community as white supremacists are of all white people.”

He also writes, “To suggest otherwise is a lie. Justice in my America is blind. This person will receive a fair trial, as it should be. If convicted, he will face the consequences society has set. Beyond that, he deserves no more attention.”

Another family member commented on social media: “Especially for those of you who did not know her in life, you do not get to usurp Mollie and her legacy for your racist, false narrative now that she is no longer with us. We hereby reclaim our Mollie.”

Tibbetts’s body was found late last month after having been missing for more than a month.

As for the rest of Rob’s comments about racism and immigration, he sounds as if it is he who is blinded by politics, and he should become more familiar with who killed his daughter and how it could have been avoided. The request that Mollie’s death not be highlighted as another tragedy stemming from open borders will be lost on me. I mean no disrespect to the Tibbetts family, but it’s the duty of the press to tell the truth, and I won’t overlook that part because someone killed by an illegal alien once championed for the open borders movement. Furthermore, we must get the record straight, Mollie wasn’t killed by an immigrant, she was murdered by an illegal alien that had no right to be in the USA. Stating otherwise is a lie, and to ignore this puts other daughters in danger.”

Mollie Tibbetts’ Father: Promote Diversity, not Immigration Enforcement


Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office2 Sep 20189,090The father of the murdered Iowa jogger, Mollie Tibbetts, is arguing that the public’s outcry over his daughter’s death is fueled by racism, and should be overpowered by a celebration of “diversity.”

“Do not appropriate Mollie’s soul in advancing views she believed were profoundly racist,” Rob Tibbetts wrote in the Des Moines Register. He continued:

To knowingly foment discord among races is a disgrace to our flag. It incites fear in innocent communities and lends legitimacy to the darkest, most hate-filled corners of the American soul. It is the opposite of leadership. It is the opposite of humanity. It is heartless. It is despicable. It is shameful.

Illegal alien Cristhian Bahena-Rivera, a 24-year-old from Mexico, has been charged with first-degree murder in her death.

The case has become a scandal because the suspect migrated into the United States several years ago, then worked at a dairy despite federal laws barring the employment of wage-lowering illegals, regardless of their origin. Mollie Tibbetts would not have been murdered by the suspect if the federal or state governments had enforced the long-standing and popular laws against illegal migration, or if cost-cutting employers had refused to employ the alleged killer instead of Americans.

However, Tibbetts choose to portray the crime in racial terms, saying:

The person who is accused of taking Mollie’s life is no more a reflection of the Hispanic community as white supremacists are of all white people. To suggest otherwise is a lie. Justice in my America is blind.

He wrote:

To the Hispanic community, my family stands with you and offers its heartfelt apology. That you’ve been beset by the circumstances of Mollie’s death is wrong. We treasure the contribution you bring to the American tapestry in all its color and melody. And yes, we love your food.

The broad effort to racialize the economic, civic and legal politics of the Tibbetts murder has been decried by advocates for the even-handed enforcement of U.S. immigration laws. For example, Bill Gheen, founder of Americans for Legal Immigration Tweeted:

Tibbetts also used the murder to promote the government-enforced diversity and migration, while completely ignoring the huge impact of cheap-labor migration on Americans and their society:

Instead, let’s turn against racism in all its ugly manifestations both subtle and overt. Let’s turn toward each other with all the compassion we gave Mollie. Let’s listen, not shout. Let’s build bridges, not walls. Let’s celebrate our diversity rather than argue over our differences. I can tell you, when you’ve lost your best friend, differences are petty and meaningless.

Tibbetts is a “marketing principal” at a San Francisco architectural firm.

Our melting pot has boiled over!

Now HE is distorting her death for open borders, more MS-13 gangs, more diseases, more overcrowding, more people taking our jobs and living on the dole.

Maybe he is the one who needs to keep his opinions to himself.

There is nothing HUMANE about these countries dumping their unwanted, uneducated, breeding poor on our backs OUR their gang members!

Apparently, Mollie's dad is ignorant of the fact that Hispanic is not a race. This makes me so angry that he considers one group of people higher than others. We are all the human race, and all human life should be respected. So sad that this dad doesn't see how obeying our laws may have saved his daughter's life. Color and ethnicity have nothing to do with this, it's about people breaking laws! He is sacrificing Mollie's life on the altar of political correctness, and it would seem he is giving her murderer a pass. He just won't understand that the murderer's ethnicity is irrelevant; we are speaking out about the illegality of his presence in the US, not his ethnicity. His apology to the Hispanic community is unnecessary. People must be held responsible for their acts, no matter what race, color, or ethnicity.

Hispanic is not a race any more than Central European is a race. Mexican is a nationality. IMO
