Most Horriblest Clown of the Week...Hugh Hewitt
It doesn't look like IQuestionEverything covered Terry Anderson's show tonight so I thought I'd mention Terry's "Most Horriblest Clown of the Week" ... talk radio host (and name-dropper extraordinaire) Hugh Hewitt (KRLA 870).
Here's the remarks that Hewitt said recently that earned him this "honor":
"No one I have asked agrees with me, but I think the Obama Administration would be wise to try and jam through a quick immigration reform package that both regularizes the vast majority of illegal aliens already here but also delivers on the fence that the Bush Adminstration has, inexplicably, managed to barely get underway. Pushing on the immigration issue means delivering to one of the key constituencies that gave him the White House while also tempting some Republicans on the margin of the debate to renew their self-destructive rhetoric on the issue. Leading your institutional opponents into another meltdown while rallying your broad base seems to be a sure winner for Obama."

Regularize???
Is that the new designer phrase for putting illegal aliens on a path to citizenship?

No Dixie, they have been using it for a while. "earned phased regularization" talk about use of spin if people were headed in the other direction any citizen could arrest them and instead of tying up a court room the Mexicans move their illegal aliens out of their country in two weeks.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Anyway, Hewitt clearly demonstrates he does not know what he is talking about when he says completing the fence would help ensure Obama's re-election by leading conservative Republicans into another "meltdown". Obviously he has mis-interpreted the election results. See William's post as to why the RNC and McCain lost the election.
Now if Obama did complete the fence, secured the border, held employers accountable, increased raids, and stopped all amnesty efforts....that might get him re-elected."We have met the enemy, and they is us." - POGO

The term "regularizing immigration status" has been used exclusively for some time by the news anchors on PBS's "The News Hour with Jim Lehrer", and with special relish by La Raza member Ray Suarez when he is speaking to spokespersons from anti-illegal immigration groups such as CIS.

Another euphemism and code language for amnesty.
Obviously, we must not let the OBL control the terms of the debate.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

That same line/promise was thrown at us back in 1986 under Reagan! Guess what Hugh...WE STILL HAVE NO FENCE and millions more of illegal invaders have poured across that border! Why does securing our borders have to include an amnesty for those who did not repect our laws to begin with?
You want to know why we have no fence Hugh. It's because in large part, due to the pro-illegal invader advocates who have fought that fence every step of the way. Unfortunately, we have some jurisdictions who are willing to entertain those enemies of this country! The same illegal invader advocates who are demanding amnesty, also want no border fence!
Do you see a pattern emerging here Hugh? I do! No fence and continued amnesties every 20 years! That's exactly what they want!
Get a clue Hugh!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Well said NB.
Here's Hewitt's e-mail if anyone wants to contact him:

p.s. Hewitt has (falsely) proclaimed himself an immigration "moderate." It seems from his recent statements that this supposed conservative supports mass amnesty tied in with border security (or is he just giving Obama advice?). Anyway, he needs to be reminded that there is nothing "moderate" about another mass amnesty tied in with with false claims of border security -- which means Americans would be stuck with an amnesty and still open borders.
