ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP)—
Four Asheboro men were arrested after more than 2,800 pounds of marijuana and nearly $450,000 in cash were found in a building during a drug bust.

Erick Jaramillo Vences, 20, of 808 Morgan Ave., and Ivan Rodriguez Vences, 24, of 1236 Old Asheboro Road, were arrested on Friday and charged with conspiracy to traffic marijuana.

Asheboro police received a tip that the pot would be delivered to an undisclosed address in northern Asheboro. Officers said they found 963 packages at the address that contained roughly 3 pounds of marijuana apiece. Police photos showed the pot in stacked on large palettes.

Police said the suspects stashed the pot inside wood furniture but were not operating a furniture business. Police said the suspects were renting the building, a former gymnasium, from the owner, whose name was not released.

Edgar S. Soria and David Miramontes, both 24 and of 1616 Pine Hill Road, were also charged with conspiracy to traffic marijuana, possessing marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Officers said they found marijuana, money and drug paraphernalia at the Pine Hill Road home. A K-9 helped officers find more than $448,000 in cash stashed inside the front bumper of a vehicle at the home, police said.

Asheboro Police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials were the lead agencies in the investigation. They are still trying to determine whether the drugs were destined for Asheboro and Randolph Counties or whether the building was merely a staging area.

All four were placed in the Randoph County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond.
