I live in Orange Cove, and I want all the readers of this newspaper to know about something that I just found out recently.

On Sept. 27, I found out that the mayor of our city, Victor Lopez, cannot have a person removed or arrested by the sheriff's deputies just because he does not agree with what the person is saying at city council meetings. A deputy can do something only if the person is disrupting the meeting.

So residents of Orange Cove should not be intimidated by the presence of deputies at the council meetings from now on. Just remember that Mayor Victor Lopez does not have the power over the sheriff that he wants all of us to believe. A deputy from the Fresno County Sheriff's Department is the one who gave me the information about their responsibility while attending those meetings.

His way of keeping the majority of legal residents silent. I don't know if that is lawful. But, since when has anything been legal there.
