Four Riverside County residents were among 11 people indicted for allegedly stealing Social Security and other federal benefits through acts of fraud.
Valerie M. Ikeda, 45, of Moreno Valley, Michael Leslie Snyder, 66, of Riverside, Marta Urbina, 64, of Riverside and Betty Jean Vierra, 66, of Moreno Valley are each facing a felony charge of theft of government property.
Snyder is also charged with presenting a false document for the purpose of theft, and Vierra is also charged with making a false statement to a government agency.
“These charges allege that the defendants took and spent government benefit payments to which they knew they were not entitled, including in some cases payments the government had issued to their deceased family members,” according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office statement.
A federal grand jury began issuing the indictments on Oct. 31. Of the other seven defendants, six are from various parts of San Bernardino County, and one is from Kent, Wash., according to the government.
The maximum penalty for theft of government benefits is 10 years in prison. For submitting false statements or documents, the maximum penalty is five years behind bars, prosecutors said.

Wow, just wow. They prosecute 11 people for theft of government monies, but turn a blind eye to illegals doing the same.
