NUMBERS USA LATEST UPDATE: TARGETED CALLS FOR AM!!!

    From: Roy Beck, President, NumbersUSA
    Date: Thursday 28JUN07 12:15 a.m. EDT

Phone calls ASAP .... Senators have to choose between voters and Big $$ special interest

DEAR OPPONENTS OF THE SENATE AMNESTY BILL,

Phone calls have to be made quickly this morning but still are important for keeping a final sense of urgency and magnitude in every Senate office.

    Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121

The Democratic Cloakroom is saying that the Senate is scheduled to start an hour of debate at 9:30 a.m. and then vote on the amnesty cloture at 10:50 a.m.

There are quite a number of Senators who went to bed tonight saying that after voting YES on amnesty cloture Tuesday they were leaning toward voting NO Thursday after watching the embarrassing display of high-handed authoritarian procedures by both Democratic and Republican leaders that blocked any semblance of open debate or amendment process on Wednesday.

The Big Money special interests, the White House and Majority Leader Reid (D-Nev.) are offering all kinds of goodies and privileges to Senators who will hold their nose and vote YES this morning.

Your calls are the only things that can add weight to the power of citizen expression these last few weeks and counteract the pro-amnesty lobby.

It is so important that you make clear in very short phone calls that a NO vote on the final bill will not be given credit by the public if the Senator votes YES on the cloture today. In fact, a NO vote after voting YES on today's cloture would be proof of a Senator trying to deceive the public.

Bloomberg News is reporting that three Senators who voted YES on Tuesday are seriously thinking about a NO today:

    Ben Nelson (D-Neb.)

    Richard Burr (R-N.C.)

    Kit Bond (R-Mo.)

And Bloomberg reports that these three are leaning toward NO:

    Jim Webb (D-Va.)

    John Ensign (R-Nev.)

    Pete Domenici (R-N.M.)

We likely will need every one of them if we are to keep the Kennedy/Bush Comprehensive Amnesty bill from getting the necessary 60 votes for cloture.

Because we can't afford to lose a one of those or the 35 who voted NO on Tuesday, I urge you to be calling all the NO Senators, making one final effort to get them to see that it makes no sense to reward 12-20 million illegal aliens with amnesty in exchange for enforcement provisions that a government agency concluded would reduce future illegal immigration by only 13%.

MOST IMPORTANT REPUBLICAN SWING SENATORS TO CALL

They are the ones who voted NO and helped kill the Kennedy/Bush amnesty early this month but who voted YES on cloture Tuesday to allow this bill back on the floor.

Some of these may look impossible, but our lobbyists say every one of these could turn back to NO (after all, they voted NO earlier this month).

    Arizona: Sen. Jon Kyl
    Idaho: Sen. Larry Craig
    Kentucky: Sen. Mitch McConnell

Maine: Sen. Susan Collins, Sen. Olympia Snowe
    Minnesota: Sen. Norm Coleman
    Mississippi: Sen. Trent Lott

    New Hampshire: Sen. Judd Gregg
    Nevada: Sen. John Ensign

I have a sickening feeling that this is all "bullsh*t". Reports are that this person or that person is gonna vote this way or that.. forget it.

Bush will cajole and bride everyone.

You tell me how this thing got SHOT DOWN the first time around, and now miraculously everyone is clueless about the particulars about this bill and not committing... Its all lame. AND NOW its a close vote.

HOW CAN THE BIGGEST SH*T OF BILL GET THIS FAR???

Are our Senators, the Black Caucus, and whomever else supports this (not including big business and special interest) COMPLETLEY CLUELESS to the ramifications.. and false promises - ??????????

I am now convinced, after years of listening to a buddy of mine, that our Government is corrupt. I ignored him in the past.. but now, it seems SO OBVIOUS. I just can't believe that people are using rhetoric to sell this thing. I can't believe KENNEDY is supporting this like its good. HOW DISHONEST. WHAT A PIECE OF SH*T.

Sorry.. but as you can see, I am angry.

I really believe there is some conspiracy here. What is the friggin rush on this.. I mean, really. WHAT IS THE RUSH! WHY THE URGENCY.. something is plainly amiss...... and our Senators are responsible as well as the President.
