Obama’s IRS Pays out $4.2 Billion to Illegal Immigrants, Tea Party Left Hangin

Posted by Mike DeVine on Oct 22, 2013

Outraged that illegal aliens claimed child-tax-credits, but no outrage that current tax law allows them to report income and pay taxes without threat of deportation?

The power of a president to succumb to the temptation to use executive power for political purposes has always been available. That the current occupant of the Oval Office is so uniquely brazen in betraying the trust inherent in the office should compel future voters to insist upon a much smaller and less intrusive federal government:

While harrying and stalling tea party groups seeking nonprofit status, the Internal Revenue Service mailed $4.2 billion in child-credit checks to undocumented immigrants. Critics say midlevel IRS bureaucrats continue to abuse the Additional Child Tax Credit program by dispensing $1,000 checks to families in this country illegally.

“The law needs clarification that undocumented immigrants are not eligible,” Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, told Watchdog.org in a statement. To make Congress’ intent clear – that only legal U.S. residents are entitled to ACTC credits — Grassley co-sponsored a clarifying amendment with Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wy.

    But…

Watchdog reported in June that disbursement of ACTC credits has grown rapidly — and suspiciously — with increased issuance of Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers as substitutes for Social Security numbers.
ITIN holders are not required to prove legal residency, and ITIN applications are running at the rate of 1 million a year. (Emphasis added)
Notice that Senators Grassley and Enzi don’t propose to end the ITIN law that allows illegals to file tax returns. Notice that they don’t propose to make clear that any of the other thousands of deductions and credits that reduce taxable income do not apply to illegals. I did.
To be clear, I have favored NON-VOTING-RIGHTS amnesty for several years given the de facto amnesty that has existed for decades that encouraged illegals to enter the mostly-Republican cheap-labor force and vote for Democrats without photo IDs. This was before the Obama Administration employed the IRS to castrate tea party conservatives before the 2012 election.

Vague laws passed by Congress have long been the rule, whether they applied to subvert political free speech or outlaw jobs for humans in favor of snail darters. Republicans should be ashamed for going along with them. But under President Barack Obama we have seen outright usurpation of constitutional legislative power by executive fiat to subvert un-vague laws to issue deep water-oil drilling moratoriums, end welfare-work requirements and exempt the political class from Obamacare.

We have seen the rise of Food Stamp Nation under Obama despite no changes in eligibility thanks to his affirmative action program to recruit government dependents loyal to the Democratic Party.

But yes GOP, please try to pass a “clarification” to deny child-credits to illegals. After all, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised perpetual surrender on government shutdowns, so Republicans will obviously “win” this battle, eh? Even if Obama doesn’t blame a couple of “low-level” operatives, as he did the targeting of conservatives last year:

BTW, were Grassley and Enzi vocal defenders of Sen. Ted Cruz last week when a fellow Republican was trying to make significant change that actually affects Americans’ lives? Didn’t think so.

Now that the shutdown is over, Obama says it's time to pass amnesty for illegal aliens. Do you think we should let this happen?

IRS doles out $11.6 billion in erroneous tax credit checks

LEGAL RESIDENTS ONLY: Sen. Charles Grassley says it was never Congress’ intent for the IRS to issue tax-credit checks to people in this country illegally.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — While harrying and stalling tea party groups seeking nonprofit status, the Internal Revenue Service mailed $4.2 billion in child-credit checks to undocumented immigrants.
“Unfortunately, the majority leader (Harry Reid, D-Nev.) cut off debate, so we weren’t given the chance to offer our amendment,” said Grassley, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The IRS’ practice of paying out billions to undocumented-immigrant families never received full congressional scrutiny, said David North, a fellow at the enforcement-oriented Center for Immigration Studies.
“I’ve been in government and I know kind of how these things work out,” North told the Washington Times.
“It struck me that (GS) 15s and 16s got together at some point and decided this is how we should handle it, and it stuck,” said North, who wrote “Paying Illegals to Stay,” an analysis of how benefit programs increase illegal immigration.
The IRS has said it doesn’t believe the ACTC law allows the agency to deny payment to undocumented immigrants.
Federal investigators identified one address in Atlanta where 23,994 ITIN refunds totaling $46,378,040 were delivered. A single bank account there received 8,393 refunds.
Records indicate that undocumented immigrants in Virginia received $87.9 million in ACTC cash from the IRS. Watchdog reported that $163,711 went to a single address in the tiny eastern shore town of Parksley.
In lightly populated Iowa, Grassley’s home state, undocumented immigrants got an estimated $30 million.
With an average of 15 percent of ACTC refunds directed to undocumented households nationally, North calculates that roughly half of the money went to ITIN holders who paid “little or no income taxes.”
An audit by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration stated:
“We believe legislation is needed to clarify whether or not refundable tax credits such as the ACTC may be paid to filers without a Social Security number. Such a legislative change could result in cost savings to the federal government of $1.8 billion annually.
“As it now stands, the payment of federal funds through this tax benefit appears to provide additional incentive for aliens to enter, reside and work in the U.S. without authorization, which contradicts federal law and policy to remove such incentives.”
The recommendations of that audit, conducted in 2009, have yet to be acted on.
Meantime, the IRS continues to be dogged by controversy over its handling of tax-exempt requests by tea party groups and other conservative organizations.
Judicial Watch this month filed a Freedom of Information lawsuit against the agency asking the District Court for the District of Columbia to compel the IRS to produce records of all communications relating to the review process for organizations seeking 501(c)(4) non-profit status since Jan. 1, 2010.
On May 14, the Treasury inspector general concluded the IRS had singled out groups with conservative-sounding terms such as “patriot” and “tea party” in their titles when applying for tax-exempt status.

Amnesty for Illegals to Get Soros Treatment

Written on Saturday, October 19, 2013 by Tad Cronn

Now that the government shutdown puppet theater has come to a successful close with Obamacare untouched, the debt ceiling blown away and GOP leadership voluntarily castrated, it’s time for the Powers That Be to really go after the Tea Party.

President Obama has set a pretty table for the Left’s power brokers, with the gristly Tea Party pre-chewed by himself, the aforementioned genderless Republican Party leaders and the Obama media.

Now it’s time for the Left’s moneyed wing to swing in and make the Democratic Party miraculously look like the party of economic sense and champion of true equality.

The battlefield of choice is the amnesty debate, or should we say narrative, since there are no political debates these days unless a Ted Cruz or Rand Paul takes it upon himself to gum up the Congress just long enough to educate the public.

The Democrats’ argument will be that evil Tea Party Republicans in Congress (the full dozen or so of them) are racists because they don’t want brown-skinned Mexicans breathing American air. The Tea Party will be accused, yet again, of holding the country hostage, whatever that means, by refusing to pass the amnesty bill to protect millions of foreign lawbreakers who just want to come here and vote Democrat.

Businesses will argue that they want amnesty not just for the extra-cheap labor that will allow them to lay off higher-priced Americans and pad their CEOs’ bank accounts, but because we need a truly global workforce for the global economy, or some such folderol.

Business groups like the Business Roundtable and the Chamber of Commerce have announced that they will be putting money behind non-Tea Party conservatives (by default probably ending up with Democrats winning), according to the Wall Street Journal.

Many of those same groups and other business interests are planning to sponsor the National Immigration Forum later this month, according to USA Today. The forum will “fly in” alleged conservatives from across the country.

A look at the list of expected attendees — which includes representatives of Mike Zuckerberg’s FWD.us, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Partnership for a New American Economy, and the Chamber of Commerce among other liberal-leaning organizations — suggests that the forum is little more than a liberal lobbying effort that will coincide with an expected renewed amnesty push by Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
Funding for the forum and for many of its participants comes from the usual suspects, led by the chess master himself, George Soros. NIF’s Executive Director Ali Noorani insists the forum is set to rally the conservative base of the Republican Party, but the NIF has received millions of dollars from Soros, his various shell charities and the Ford Foundation, among other liberal money sources.

The Left seems thoroughly confounded by the Tea Party, not realizing it is both smaller and more influential than liberals believe.
Tea Party principles — lower taxes, constitutionally limited government, and free markets — have a broad appeal that extends beyond the membership rolls, and the people who agree with those principles are increasingly angered by Obama’s spin and lies.

The thought that Obama might have some political capitol to expend for amnesty after he tried to punish common Americans with his shutdown campaign is just wishful thinking. Obama’s on thin ice these days.

Riding on the amnesty fight is the future of our country and what its nature will be, whether it retains some semblance of American character or becomes just “El Norte,” run in perpetuity by the Democrats.

That’s the real interest Soros has in amnesty. He and his globalist pals haven’t yet finished disassembling America. The creation of a large, legal and permanent underclass of ignorant foreigners who can lawfully live, work and vote here is just the ticket.
    The next battle begins.
