OUTRAGE: Obama’s Official White House Statement on Eid-al-Fitr Celebration Praises Muslims for “Building the Very Fabric of our Nation”

Think you’ll ever see an official Obama White House statement praising Christians for their role in creating the fabric of our nation? Never. But when it comes to Islam, Obama is all over it.
    Via the White House website.
As Muslims throughout the United States and around the world celebrate Eid-al-Fitr, Michelle and I extend our warmest wishes to them and their families. This last month has been a time of fasting, reflection, spiritual renewal, and service to the less fortunate. While Eid marks the completion of Ramadan, it also celebrates the common values that unite us in our humanity and reinforces the obligations that people of all faiths have to each other, especially those impacted by poverty, conflict, and disease.

In the United States, Eid also reminds us of the many achievements and contributions of Muslim Americans to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy. That is why we stand with people of all faiths, here at home and around the world, to protect and advance their rights to prosper, and we welcome their commitment to giving back to their communities.

On behalf of the Administration, we wish Muslims in the United States and around the world a blessed and joyous celebration. Eid Mubarak.
The fabric statement is absurd and provokes one to wonder just who exactly Obama is cheering for in our world of problems.

Additionally, the White House apparently doesn’t even know what kind of a nation we are. We’re not a Democracy. We’re a Republic.

The major Muslim contribution to building the fabric of this Nation was the creation of the Marines.

    First Barbary War (1801-1805)

The First Barbary War was an undeclared war waged by the United States against the North African states of Morocco, Tripoli, Algiers, and Tunis. The principle cause of the war was that those states harbored and supported the actions of pirates against American shipping vessels in the Mediterranean Sea. The war, which lasted from 1801 to 1805, did not completely end the acts of piracy against American vessels, but it did prove that the United States was capable of waging war, if necessary, in places far from its own shores.

The First Barbary War (1801-1805) was the first overseas war fought by the United States. It happened during the Presidency of Thomas Jefferson. Also known as the Barbary Coast War or the Tripolitan War, it pitted the United States against pirates from the nations known collectively as the Barbary States:

    • Algiers
    • Morocco
    • Tunis
    • Tripoli

The incident arose over tributes that were customarily paid to these nations by U.S traders. In 1801, Tripoli increased demands for payment. President Jefferson refused the demand and Tripoli declared war on the United States by cutting down the flagstaff in front of the U.S. Consulate.

Congress authorized the use of military force for the protection of American interests in the Mediterranean. On August 1, 1801, the USS Enterprise defeated the Tripoli at sea. In 1802, Jefferson increased the presence of hte Navy in the area by deploying additional ships under the command of Commodore Edward Preble.

On July 14, 1804, under Preble's command, the Navy attacked Tripoli, but the most famous event of the war occurred in April and May of 1805 with the Battle of Derma. General William Eaton and First Lieutenant Presley O'Bannon led a force of eight Marines and 500 mercenaries from Alexandria, Egypt across the desert to the city of Derma, which they laid siege to. Upon their victory, the American flag was raised. This marked the first time it had been done in victory on foreign soil.

The events of the First Barbary War are memorialized by the line in the Marine's Hymm, "the shores of Tripoli" and the Tripoli Monument that stands at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

On Sunday, President Obama and First Lady Michelle released a statement thanking Muslim Americans for their many “achievements and contributions… to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy.”

The comments were made to mark the celebration of Eid-al-Fitr, a time of spiritual renewal for Muslims which comes at the end of the month-long fast of Ramadan. The Obamas said in their statement that Eid “celebrates the common values that unite us in our humanity” and “welcomed their commitment to giving back to their communities.” The International Business Times reports that during Eid, Muslims join in Islamic prayer, while saying "Allahu Akbar," or "God is Great," and feasting.

The statement further reads that the administration “wishes Muslims in the United States and around the world a blessed and joyous celebration.” The letter ended with salutation of “Eid Mubarak,” which roughly means “blessed celebration.”
