Open Borders in Dangerous Times

With all our attention focused on the millions of illegal, undocumented Mexican immigrants pouring over our southern border each year, we have paid scant attention to those who have chosen to hide in their midst - those who seek entry into the U.S. not to pursue the American dream, but to destroy it. *The Real ID Act of 2005, which established standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and non-driver’s identification cards, has now been put off until at least 2009. And many states are in open revolt against its tough requirements for issuing driver’s licenses. The result is that potential terrorists here illegally can easily use phony licenses or, in many states, get real ones issued to them, along with credit cards and all of the other papers needed to blend into our society.



The real ID is not designed to catch terrorists or illegals - no one can make me believe that.


Anything the government can design can be duplicated and forged - the real ID will end up being only for legal, law abiding citizens and will be a joke otherwise.

The idea that dangerous people are coming across the border isn't new - I read about it possibly 5 - 6 years ago.

Also, I assumed on 9/11, our people in power would have given that some thought also - it seems not. It seems they stil are not thinking about it years later.

As for Chavez, yes, they probably would like to see America fail, as our PResident would like to see Chavez out of office and an one of his cronies in power there. It makes him no less dangerous - but this may just be tit for tat and the clash of two egos that want to rule this hemisphere.

The fault, however, doesn't lie with Venezuela, Al Queda, Cuba, Bin Laden - the fault lies with our government - pure and simple.

They could not come across without the help of the government officials that refuse to do what is necessary to make this country safe.
