Is Our National Identity In Danger?
IS OUR NATIONAL IDENTITY IN DANGER?
U.S. immigration policy must be tolerant, but tough
By Amy Chua - SPECIAL TO THE WASHINGTON POST

The greatest empire in history, ancient Rome, collapsed when its cultural and political glue dissolved.
If you don’t speak Spanish, Miami really can feel like a foreign country. In any restaurant, the conversation at the next table is more likely to be Spanish than English. And Miami’s population is only 65 percent Hispanic. El Paso, Texas, is 76 percent Latino. Flushing is 60 percent immigrant, mainly Chinese.
Chinatowns and Little Italys have long been part of America’s urban landscape, but would it be all right to have entire U.S. cities where most people spoke and did business in Chinese, Spanish or even Arabic? Are too many Third World, non-English-speaking immigrants destroying our national identity?
For some Americans, even asking such questions is racist. At the other end of the spectrum, conservative talk show host Bill O’Reilly fulminates against floods of immigrants who threaten to change America’s “complexionâ€Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Absolutely..
Yes..absolutely..the power elites have done this to most western countries in order to control them. Loss of identity, nationalism..is part of the recipe for a successful one world government. The strong identity is the result of the middle class, who have been the religious, the patriots, the law abiding citizens, the voters, the workers, AND the taxpayers. Obviously, the middle class is shrinking thanks to the power elites.

IS OUR NATIONAL IDENTITY IN DANGER? Yes, it has been ever since the 1965 Ted Kennedy Immigration bill that encouraged massive immigration from the Third World.
U.S. immigration policy must be tolerant, but tough? That's a contradiction in terms!
But what is our national identity? Can we even answer that question? Just as Teddy Roosevelt feared, we have become a "polyglot of squabbling nationalities"
Traditionally, a national identity means the citizens of a nation are all related to one another. A nation is just an extension of a family or a tribe; it is an extended family.
Opening the gates to a diversity of unrelated people who care about their own families and extended families (their nation) only creates a competition between nationalities within America for dominance.
Non-western nations like Japan allow virtually no immigration because they do not want to lose their national identity.
Unfortunately, its been a while since we had a national identity. Our Nation has been gradually replaced by a Marketplace inhabited by a mere population of squabbling nationalities. This MarketplaceLand has survived during long eras of economic prosperity, but will it survive the worldwide economic depression we are about to enter? Or will it break up into separate nations like Yugoslavia?[b] If we do not insist on Voter ID, how can we stop illegals from voting?

14th Amendment
well..all this stuff happened post- War of Northern Aggression. 14th amendment made us US Citizens rather than We the People...in other words ..we are now under the jurisdiction of the government. That was not the intention of the framers. So...the 14th amendment got rid of slavery? No. It only served to enslave us all.

Bottom line, the immigrants from the past respected and loved this country, learned English, worked hard and became legal.
The infestation we have now have no values, are filthy and greedy and have no respect for our Country much less our customs and people!!
Big difference in yesterday's and today's 'immigrants'!!Once abolish the God and the government becomes the God.*** -G.K. Chesterton from the book 'The Shack' by Wm. Paul Young-

welfare state
Well if you think about it..the immigrants in the past didn't come here to get on the dole because there was no "dole". Now they come here to get free medical and welfare and food stamps. Gee thanks FDR.

Hell, yes, it's in danger.
I fear for our area in particular. So many nationalities living here, so many different languages and dialects. No one wants to learn English . .we've just got to cater to them in their language and to their every whim. All at our expense.
I don't know how or why Americans became such doormats.
I have also met many young people who are first generation Americans, but who still seem very confused about their national identity. They seem lost, because someone is telling them they are Korean-American or Latin-American, or whatever -- and they don't know who they are. There is loyalty to both sides, yet loyalty to neither.
What I see now is a huge number of immigrants and nationalities all treating the U.S. like some big shopping market. That's all it means to them.. ..it's all about the "stuff" they want, the image now they seem to want to portray. They all want to look American, but not BE American. Or, everyone wants to be prosperous, yet not pay any allegiance to the government or system that makes them that way. It's just screwy.
