Pence endorses McCain, Ayotte

(CNN)Indiana Gov. Mike Pence offered his support Thursday to Republican Sens. John McCain and Kelly Ayotte, days after his running mate, Donald Trump, refused to endorse the embattled Republican senators.

Hours earlier Thursday, Pence set off alarms inside the Republican establishment when he declined to back the senators from Arizona and New Hampshire.

"I look forward to supporting Republican candidates in the days and weeks ahead all over the country, and so does Donald Trump," Pence said on his campaign plane when asked directly by reporters if he would endorse McCain and Ayotte.

Pence senior adviser Marc Short, however, later told CNN the Indiana governor merely gave a "non-answer" and didn't intend to suggest he wasn't endorsing them.

On Tuesday, Trump sent shockwaves through the Republican Party when he declined to endorse McCain and Ayotte, as well as House Speaker Paul Ryan. Trump has feuded with McCain over the Arizona senator's handling of veterans issues and Ayotte has claimed she is not endorsing Trump, though she supports him.
The next day, Pence said he "strongly" endorsed Ryan. The Indiana governor said he had discussed his support of Ryan with Trump earlier in the day and that his running mate encouraged him to endorse the House speaker.

At this moment I am not liking the Trump campaign. Pence is number two and he should not endorse people who oppose Trump on immigration and temporary Muslim ban.

Where is Senator Sessions and Stephen Miller? Trump must have people in the Senate who will support his plans.

"Touchback Amnesty" Pence.

Paul Manafort's partner, Charlie Black, can't stand Trump. Makes one wonder if this is all sabotage from within. If you want a clean break you cannot drag the nastiness along. If you want a fresh start get the RINOs out.

Corey Lewandowski would have never allowed Pence to endorse Ryan. He would have thrown a fit. And rightly so.

I don't know, JohnDoe2. Is it too many cooks spoil the broth? Is it lie down with dogs get up with fleas? Mr. Trump is a novice at this but please stop picking up snakes.

I wish Senator Sessions had been the VP choice. He believes in the immigration plan and has helped Trump on policy and speeches along with Stephen Miller. Don't like to see them swimming in the RINO pool.

I would have liked Scott Brown for VP. But, "unity" won out. Well, how's that working out for Trump? The only "unity" is with his voters and Trump Supporters. These party leaders and "top Republicans" whatever in the hell that is, are just all wrong.

I like Scott Brown and could think of a couple of others. Senator Brown was not in Congress long and I don't know if he would push back against the loud voices either. Pence being chosen for VP, "unity" as you mention Judy, leaves us with these horrible endorsements. Hopefully they will lose and it won't matter.

Yes, here's hoping McCain and Ryan both lose and Kelli wins against McCain and Nehlen wins against Ryan.
