Sen. Rand Paul came to Washington to shake things up. And he has! But unfortunately, Sen. Paul has bought the establishment's pro-Amnesty argument -- hook, line and sinker!

Rand Paul announced on Tuesday, March 19th a plan so audacious, even President Obama dared not offer it! The plan Paul presented to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce would legalize nearly all illegal aliens, and wouldn't even mandate E-Verify to stop future illegal immigration.

Rand Paul usually stands for reducing government dependence. We need to make him -- and the other congressmen he influences -- understand how his plan would dramatically expand the drain on government benefits. We're not just talking about the illegal aliens, but also the American workers whose jobs they will take, or who will join the working poor due to immigration's effects on wages.

Sen. Paul said his plan's goal was "prudence, compassion and thrift."

We need to make sure Sen. Rand Paul understands that rewarding breaking America's laws is not prudent.

We also need to teach Sen. Paul that adding 11 to 19 million low-skill workers permanently is not thrift. Amnesty could wind up costing America trillions of dollars. And taking millions of construction and service jobs away from less-educated American workers is not compassionate, either.


Shockingly, Sen. Paul even opposes mandatory E-Verify. If we grant Amnesty to every illegal alien in America, but don't implement ways to keep future illegal aliens from taking jobs, we could still have another twenty million illegal aliens in another twenty years.

Sen. Paul says we need to "start [a] conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants." But, Sen. Paul, that's how E-Verify works: if we turn off the magnet, we'll quit attracting illegal immigrants.

We're not out to demonize Rand Paul, or create political opposition. That's what makes NumbersUSA different: We're out to educate him. We make sure he hears voiced besides the echo chamber of the mainstream media, special interests and political consultants.

Back in 2007, we shocked the world when we convinced enough senators that Amnesty was not in the best interest of America. Amnesty supporters were certain that a super-majority supported them in Congress, but enough Congressmen heard their constituents wouldn't tolerate it. Amnesty was solidly defeated.

But this time, they are ready for us. We can't sit back and simply repeat what we did in 2007. Last month, we signed up 50,000 new members. We sent 500,000 faxes. But we need 50,000 new members and 500,000 faxes every month until Amnesty comes up for a vote.
