If the Senate Republican Caucus is a little more conservative today than it was back in 2009, you can thank Jim DeMint for that. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio would not be Senators today without the help of DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund. In 2012, he resigned his Senate seat and took on the chairmanship of the Heritage Foundation. Over the years, he has been a great friend to RedState and voice for conservatives in Washington. We were fortunate to have him come to this year’s Gathering in Fort Worth and speak with us.
