White House policy advisor Jared Kushner is said to be playing a leading role in encouraging President Donald Trump to oppose former attorney general Jeff Sessions’ candidacy for the U.S. Senate.

The personal feud between Sessions and Trump is well known, but earlier reports had suggested that President Trump intended to remain neutral in the Republican primary runoff between Jeff Sessions and Tommy Tuberville. Jared Kushner’s urgings may have proved crucial in motivating the President to forcefully oppose Sessions’ candidacy, and Trump remains angered over Sessions’ recusal as Attorney General from oversight of the witch hunt Russia investigation.

Girdusky is reporting that Kushner’s support of soft-on-crime jailbreak legislation is an essential element to his opposition to Sessions. As Attorney General, Sessions strongly shut down attempts from liberal Republicans and the Democratic Party to release thousands of hardened criminals from the prison system before their assigned sentences were completed.

Kushner has aggressively pushed jailbreak legislation with the hopes of ingratiating himself with the liberal cultural elite.

Kushner was one of the lead architects of bail reform and Sessions constantly pushed back against him. Sources inside the WH told me Kushner hated Sessions more than any other person inside Trump's WH.

Kushner’s stringent support of mass immigration may also be a crucial factor in what Girdusky is describing as his stringent opposition to Sessions. Kushner has repeatedly attempted to ram through various amnesty and cheap labor visa programs, a set of policy proposals Sessions’ return to the Senate would certainly complicate. Sessions has the strongest conservative track record of any former Senator or federal legislator, almost singlehandedly shutting down several amnesty and visa expansion programs over his career of decades in the Senate.

Sessions’ opponent, football coach Tommy Tuberville, is yet to provide satisfying answers for some highly questionable statements on immigration policy. Tuberville has endorsed the notion of admitting 400,000 Indian visa workers to fill American jobs, a policy long sought by corporate elites seeking to replace American workers with a more compliant and cheaper staff.

The support of a stringent White House liberal committed to undermining President Trump’s America First policy vision is a strong red flag against Tommy Tuberville.
