In the early stages that happened in spite of Kelly, not because of him. I believe you're giving Kelly too much credit for something he actually had little to no impact on personally. It was all the Trump rhetoric during the campaign that initially reduced border crossings. However, the crossing now seem to be increasing.

As for strengthened interior enforcement, Trump's executive order did free up ICE to go after more folks. However, we still haven't seen a noticeable increase in business raids, illegal employer arrest, so-called sensitive area apprehensions, etc. Furthermore, as we've recently become aware, catch & release never actually went away. If Trump would have hired someone like Kris Kobach, I'm convinced the difference between him and Kelly would have been like day and night.

John Kelly continues to do more harm than good to our cause.

You're entitled to your view, MW. I'm just not buying it, because it makes no sense to me that a 4 star General who has devoted his life to the security of our country would be in the traitors camp on immigration. He may not know how best to solve it, he may not know what works on this issue and what doesn't, but I believe he knows that illegal immigration and massive excess immigration are harmful, detrimental and a complete unadulterated scourge for our country on all levels and must be stopped by all the best means available. Just my opinion.
