Sanctuary Movement: Personal Compassion VS National Security

Last Friday, I was ushered into the Washington studios of the FOX Network to respond to a special segment of the O’Reilly Factor which described a new immigration reform campaign called the “Sanctuary Movement.â€

I am saddened by the pain of deportation. In fact, I have had several members of my local congregation deported during the last decade, yet I maintain that the problems of immigration must be solved with both compassion and wisdom. Both our hearts and our heads must be engaged in fixing this problem

I'll go along with the wisdom part, but it must be known that many of the special interest groups calling for amnesty aren't actually doing so out of compassion - their primary motivation is greed!

Unfortunately, I'd have to lump the Catholic Church into the "greed group." They motivation for pushing amnesty is no more out of compassion than some of the Latino advocacy groups, business lobbies, labor Unions, agricultural lobbies, immigration lawyers, and the Mexican government (who should have no say, but obviously have) just to name a few.
