I've been pestering my state rep (John Sullivan) to become a co-sponsor of the SAVE Act and finally received a response from his office today. He basically said that he'd vote for the SAVE Act if it makes it to the house floor, but he'd rather support the Secure Borders FIRST Act, which he has co-sponsored. For some reason, he apparently isn't inclined to support both bills. After taking a look at the FIRST Act, it does seem to be better than the SAVE Act, but the FIRST Act isn't receiving bi-partisan support like the SAVE Act. I'd like to get ALIPAC'ers thoughts about these two bills and why some republicans with good anti-illegal immigration records like Sullivan are co-sponsoring the FIRST Act and not co-sponsoring the SAVE Act, which seems to have a better chance of passing in the House.
