Thread: Schwarzenegger Wants to Further Open The Border

Did anyone hear on Lou Dobbs that despite the raging out of control drug cartel wars and ensuing violence on the border Annie Schwarzenegger wants to open an express lane at the San Diego-Tijuana land border crossing allowing even easier access to both countries because he cares only about trade and cheap labor. I guess the murder, rape, molestation and other crimes against Americans is less important than the open borders agenda for cheap labor and illegal alien votes.

It is starting to sound like the governator is trying to rectify his financial fiasco, so that businesses thrive with illegals and pay taxes to help out on the huge budget deficit.

I suspect we are going to see even more ports of entry being opened ( or an expansion of those existing entry points) in the next few years in order to accomodate the increase in cargo that inevitably will be moving across that border - as a result of the new port being constructed in northern Baja.

IMO, It's only going to get worse....

Hence...new stimulus package to rebuild the roads and bridges!! NAFTA super highway!!

Won't need cheap labor if nobody will BUY their cheap merchandise. Americans are not spending as much anymore. Take heed Arnie.

U.S. to Build Seventh Calif.-Mexico Border Crossing

TIJUANA, Mexico -- The United States aims to build a seventh border crossing between California and Mexico by 2014 to ease chronic congestion and boost trade, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Monday.

Schwarzenegger said the U.S. State Department had granted a permit to build a toll crossing between Otay Mesa, California, and Tijuana in Mexico at a cost of $715 million.

The current crossing in Otay Mesa handles cargo, vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and is free. Otay Mesa II, as the new one will be called, will offer alternative crossing facilities nearby for of a fee.

Financing would be raised through a bond issue to private investors, the California Department of Transportation said.

Tougher security to catch illegal immigrants and drug smugglers has meant truck drivers and a growing cross-border community of commuters are losing hours in bumper-to-bumper queues at busy border crossings between Mexico and California.

Last year, some 79 million people crossed through California's six existing ports of entry. Delays are worst during peak crossing times in the mornings and during weekends.

It was not clear what the cost of the toll at the new crossing would be, but U.S. officials hope that wait times there will be less than half an hour.

Mexican exporters complain they lose millions of dollars a year in border delays, as trucks line up for hours to get goods ranging from tomatoes to televisions into the United States.

"This is one more step in our continued effort to rebuild and expand the infrastructure needed to accommodate increased international trade with Mexico," Schwarzenegger said in a statement from Otay Mesa in California.

He said the new swifter border crossing should attract business and investment in the area.

I thought Ca was broke. We have a $32 million deficit. What is wrong with him?

As Lou mentioned, evidently commerce is more important than securing our borders.....as usual money is the underlying issue, esp with politicians.

Keep in mind, Obama just meet with the Governors at their convention, you can bet deals were made....especially on open borders, free movement of people and goods...

just part of the trillion dallors to update infrastructer, next you will see illegals reap the rewards again with new jobs provided with taxpayer money.
