Thread: Sen. Mel Martinez is reitiring NOW!!

Did anyone else hear this in the news this morning?

I just heard Martinez will not be going back after the break....have not heard why yet.....Gov. will appoint someone to take his seat.

I heard this as well SoSad. Why is he retiring a year early?

I hope the good people of Florida flood the Governors office with calls and E-mails demanding a representative of the actual citizens of their state.

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., said she hoped Crist would appoint a Hispanic to follow in Martinez's footsteps, "possibly new blood, maybe not somebody who's been in office but maybe someone who is from the private sector."

I hope that identity politics won't be the result. This seems to be a continuing pattern with many ethnocentric groups, which includes that push for Sotomayor. "Someone who is from the private sector" will hopefully not be someone working with open borders groups or businesses and corporations that hire and use illegal alien labor. Another amnesty backer.

Thats scary

Too many gov't officials become lobbyists after they get out of office. Will be interesting to see what Martinez (who is Cuban) does after he resigns from his Senate seat.
