    A Special Birthday

    My mother, whose Ukranian mother and family FLED COMMUNISM in the late 1920's after FIRST LEGALLY applying for asylum in America then WAITED amidst WAR, FAMINE, CRIME, and DISEASE in EUROPE for several LONG years BEFORE finally being approved, was born on the day AFTER Independence Day! Because of that, our family has ALWAYS celebrated my MOM'S birthday AND the Glorious Fourth TOGETHER in PRAISE and THANKSGIVING to GOD for SPARING them DESTRUCTION and allowing them to ESCAPE tyranny in their NATIVE land and take refuge and succeed in the LAND of the FREE and the HOME of the BRAVE! This year, Mom's birthday is SPECIAL for it is a DIAMOND anniversary and THIS year our celebration of the Fourth and Fifth of July will be ESPECIALLY meaningful! Happy Birthday, America AND Happy Birthday, MOM!
