America, we are in trouble – and we better wake up and act.
Just look at the state of affairs in our country today. We are seeing scandal after scandal, with the Benghazi controversy, the IRS targeting of conservative groups, and the freedom of the press being challenged by the Department of Justice.
The word scandal is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as “an action or event regarded as morally or legally wrong and causing general public outrage.” I think the implementation of ObamaCare fulfills that definition.
I remember back in 2010 when then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi made her infamous remark about the Affordable Care Act, saying “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it....” Well the bill has been passed, and now we see what’s in it: An utter mess with incomprehensible rules.
If we compare the assertions the president made about ObamaCare when it was first introduced to the current bill as it has been passed today, we find that all the president’s guarantees regarding ObamaCare are not there.
The truth of the matter is that we were not fully informed. For example, President Obama maintained that this bill would lower the cost of health care, especially in regards to insurance premiums. That is simply not true. Many different analyses clearly show that in some markets, insurance premiums can increase as high as 30 to 40 percent. One of the main reasons for this increase can be attributed to all the hidden taxes that this bill contains, which the insurance industry will likely pass on to consumers.
Another false guarantee given by the administration was that individuals would be able to keep their doctors and current level of service through ObamaCare. Again, this is not true. The so-called insurance exchanges being set up in many states by the federal government will most likely create a non-competitive environment, meaning patients who cannot afford other types of insurance will be forced to buy insurance from the government. And if their current doctors are not willing to participate in that single-payer health care system, these patients will ultimately lose the guarantee of keeping their own doctors.
So what does this all mean? It means that if everything goes according to the president’s plan, the health care landscape is going to completely change over the next decade. A potential scenario is that private doctors will be employees of one large health care system. Health standards such as maintaining an ideal weight and eliminating habits like drinking alcohol and soda will be placed on families so that they can qualify for health care. So in other words, your individual freedom will be targeted.
I know many people argue that it’s better if everyone has health insurance and maintains a healthy lifestyle. Yes it is, but I still believe that an individual’s health care should not be dictated by the government. Instead it should be a choice made by the individual and his or her health provider.
Many senior politicians and consultants have found as of late that ObamaCare is a train wreck. And yet, the person in charge of implementing ObamaCare, United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, continues to drive the train forward. Rather than work with leaders who are suggesting changes ,she has decided to enlist the help of the private sector in getting donations to help fund ObamaCare.
Many have questioned this move, but one thing Secretary Sebelius knows is how to organize her community of followers. Recently, she has teamed up with Nancy-Ann DeParle, former director of the White House Office of Health Reform, placing her in charge of asking insurance companies to donate $1 million or more to Enroll America, a non-profit organization promoting enrollment in the subsidized insurance markets, according to a report from Politico.
You see, folks, ObamaCare is all about politics and control, and to me, that is a formula for disaster. This is something that should not be taken for granted but rather openly evaluated by the American public.

Obamacare: About That Whole “If You Like Your Health Care Plan, You Can Keep It” Thing…

Anyone remember those infamous words that were ejaculated from Barack Obama’s mouth on July 16, 2009 when he addressed the American Medical Association in Chicago while promoting the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare? Let me refresh your memory. Obama said, “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.” Well not only was he lying then, but it is becoming painfully clear to even his media accomplices and supporters that he lied about that.

    The Associated Press reports,
Many people who buy their own health insurance could get surprises in the mail this fall: cancellation notices because their current policies aren’t up to the basic standards of President Barack Obama’s health care law. They, and some small businesses, will have to find replacement plans — and that has some state insurance officials worried about consumer confusion.

Also, it doesn’t seem to square with one of the president’s best known promises about his health care overhaul: “If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan.” … The Obama administration did not respond directly to questions about the potential fallout from cancellation notices … Instead, Health and Human Services spokeswoman Joanne Peters released a prepared statement saying: “Beginning in October, individuals and small businesses will be able to shop for insurance in the marketplace, where we are already seeing that increased competition and transparency are leading to a range of options for quality, affordable plans.”

For the most part, state insurance commissioners are giving insurers the option of canceling existing plans or changing them to comply with new federal requirements.

OK, there is a big difference in “keeping” your health care plan and being “forced” to “change” or “cancel” it. Bob Laszewski, a health care industry consultant, said “You’re going to be forcibly upgraded. It’s like showing up at the airline counter and being told, ‘You have no choice, $300 please. You’re getting a first-class ticket, why are you complaining?’”
However, there are some like Stephanie Marquis, spokeswoman for insurance commissioner Mike Kreidler, who expect premiums for replacement plans to remain about the same as current plans, but with better coverage. “Your costs involve more than your premiums,” Marquis explained. “It’s also what you would have to pay out of pocket if you had actually used your health plan.”
She went on to say, “I don’t think it is necessarily a bad thing that they are going to be getting a replacement notice, because they going to be able to go out and shop in this marketplace and they’ll be getting better coverage.”
Well that really isn’t the issue, is it? When people are told one thing and the results are something quite different, there is a problem.
    Townhall’s Guy Benson comments:
The CBO estimated last year that up to 20 million Americans could lose their current coverage under Obamacare. Other projections peg the number at 35 million, or more. With the media focused on the administration’s myriad scandals, the president is gearing up for yet another public relations tour on behalf of the law that he never sold to the public, despite delivering dozens of speeches. His new plan? More speeches, natch, plus plenty of taxpayer-funded propaganda. If your presidency were sagging beneath the weight of scandal, and your top legislative accomplishment remained enduringly unpopular with the public, to whom would you turn for help? If your instant reply was “Nancy Pelosi,” you’re in luck. Have fun with this, Democrats:

A document circulated to House Democrats by Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi — and obtained by BuzzFeed — offers some details of the timing of the health-care plan: Rates and details of plans will become public in September for the 34 states that haven’t put together their own plans. The goals, Pelosi writes in a “dear colleague” letter that begins the document, are “to educate our constituents about the new law, help to implement it, and strengthen the hands of those who have worked for this historic reform.”
See what happens when people depend on government? Government is more than happy to not only be your nanny, but your mother and father, your home inspector, your lender and yes, even your doctor, but it’s always going to cost your freedom.

GOP Widens Probe of Sebelius Fundraising for Enroll America

by Mike Flynn 26 May 2013 post a comment
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who obviously wields enormous power of the nation's health care industry, has been aggressively seeking donations from the industry to fund a private non-profit, Enroll America. The non-profit is led by veterans of the Obama White House and campaigns and has appointed itself a leading role in implementing ObamaCare. In response, House GOP members have launched a wide probe into the questionable solicitations.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Fred Upton (R-MI) suggested Friday that Sebelius's solicitation of donations from the health care industry raised a conflict of interest. He wrote "HHS regulation of the health insurance industry will only grow under [healthcare reform], including by approving health insurers to participate in the exchanges."
Under ObamaCare, the federal government will have even greater regulatory control over health insurers and health care providers. The rules promulgated by HHS will have very real consequences on their business. A request from Sebelius to donate to a private non-profit does not exist in a vacuum. Some unknown amount of consideration would have to be paid to the ramifications of not donating.
Enroll America has promised a "campaign-like" approach to promoting ObamaCare. Administration officials have said the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a leading funder of left-wing causes, has committed $10 million to the effort. Tax preparer H&R Block has pledged $500,000, according to Obama officials.
Upton and some of his colleagues sent letters to a host of leading insurers, asking for all communications regarding the fundraising by Sebelius. Most have been asked to provide a response by Monday.
